Cafe Rhythm

This is by far the best café I’ve visited. Me and my boyfriend absolutely loves this place and the waffles are amazing! Not to mention the friendly staff. I would rate this place more stars if it was possible. Totally recommend it to anyone who’s going out for brunch (the breakfast and waffles are amazing)

There are always moments you find yourself out to dinner, at a restaurant with a lack lustre dessert menu, craving something sweet, but despairing because you can’t think of a dessert spot to hit that’s not Milse. It was a night like this, that led us to discover Café Rhythym hidden in a back courtyard by the Parnell Inc Offices, just off the main restaurant strip. This little café, in all its Asian kitsch décor glory, has a wonderfully broad drinks menu containing classics and a few exciting fusions such as the macha flat white. More importantly, although there wasn’t an extremely large range of desserts, they did have a selection of waffles and ice cream that caught our eye. Featured on the cutesy heart board belowis the Chocolate Waffle which arrived hot, fluffy, and topped with a generous helping of Nutella, Chocolate Ice Cream and M&Ms. Although it didn’t necessarily blow my mind, it was exactly what it was advertised to be, chocolatey and indulgent. As an aside, the owner also has really cute puppies that she will let you hold if you ask! (As if you guys needed any extra convincing to go). Definitely give it a visit if you’re in the area looking for late night dessert options!

A bit overpriced for the amount of food you get. but this café has a quint charm, the service is friendly, and the presentation of the dishes are well thought out… plus it has free wi-​fi.
My family and I ate here because they had lunch specials… «lunch». The serving sizes are more snack-​sized. I tried the Cajun Chicken Salad, and there was SO LITTLE CHICKEN! I’m going to guess ~2 oz… The chicken was also a bit dry :(
We also tried the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Stack. The ingredients are very very fresh with a generous amount of avocado and sprouts. It was served on a fat slice of wheat bread. However, the overall serving size was very underwhelming.
To be fair, I’ll have to come back and try their cute desserts and coffee!

This is one of my favourite cafes in Auckland! They have a gorgeous little courtyard you can sit in, and quite a bit of space inside. If you choose to sit outside (and I really prefer it), they have fleece blankets to ward off the cold. So cute! There is free wifi, the coffees are really good, and they have a $ 6 coffee & slice deal. I just tried their waffles for the first time this weekend, and they were so, so good. But very large, so I’d suggest sharing! The waitresses are always lovely and friendly, and they’re always playing piano versions of animé songs, which is an adorable quirk. Few things make me happier than good coffee, sweet treats and listening to the My Neighbour Totoro theme song!

One of the few places with wifi available for patrons in Parnell, unless you want to head down to Esquires and endure their hideous coffee. The internet is fast and works well outside in the courtyard, which is a nice place to sit on a good day (can be a bit breezy though). Good strong hot coffee is on offer, and also a moderately-​priced lunch menu available. I didn’t get any food, but the girls next to me got a waffle with a huge amount of whipped cream on it with berry sauce, which made me get quite substantial food envy. Nice chilled acoustic music plays in the background, and is quite audible outside as there is an outside speaker. When it is too sunny or raining, they put up a cover over the courtyard, so you can still enjoy your coffee in the atmospheric, cobblestoned space outside without getting too hot or rained on.
