Great choices of gelato, about 24 flavours. Everything from chocolate bar flavours eg Mars to brilliant Passionfruit and even coke flavour. The ambiance is not the best, that’s why it looses a star. TV with Rugby playing is a strange choice in an gelato bar. Music would be better suited. Its not far from the restaurants so you can go along for some dessert after you’ve been out. Plenty of seating inside and out to relax with your ice cream and not have to take it to go. And they do waffles — if I had more room I would have tried one.

Had the pistachio gelato. Good flavor and creamy texture.
However, service was lacklustre. I asked for flavor recommendations from the shop employee and he just kinda pointed at the sorbets. Huh?
Cute little shop and good gelato, I think thats the most important part!

I’ve always loved this place & 90% of the time after dining or shopping in Ponsonby we stop in for dessert.
Casa del Gelato has a range of gelato flavors that they rotate on a frequent basis and they also sell drinks and cute knick-​knacks.
Very good place to stop in for a sweet treat in Ponsonby.

Move over Movenpick, you suck Yoghurt Story, Casa del Gelato is hands down the best frozen dessert place in Auckland. There are a few dotted about the city but this one here on Ponsonby Road is definitely my favourite. It’s got a distinctly Italian vibe to it (as you might expect from a place that sells one of the countries greatest exports) with it’s tarnished gold poles and dark mahogany interior, but the reason I love it is because of it’s little outdoor seating area at the front. It’s the perfect spot for people watching on the city’s trendiest road.
The gelato itself is just heavenly, with some really gorgeous flavours and extra toppings that start at just 75c extra but for me, it’s the gelato shakes that are the hero of this place: thick, flavoursome and just the right amount of decadent.
