Pretty good food and good coffee. Often stop in for breakfast after taking the dogs to Meola Reef dog park. You can have the dogs in the outside area and there’s water provided. Overall and nice local café.

Great location but unfortunately the coffee is very hit and miss, sometimes undrinkable, sometimes drinkable. Food is pretty average too.

Such a cute little gem tucked away in Point Chev. I’ve been here twice and I will say the first time was better than the second, but none the less both times the food and service were really good. I ordered the big breakfast the first time and that was superb. Big portion and average pricing(I believe it was $ 22). We sat outside and basked in the sun while eating our breakfast. Such a nice, quiet little spot to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be coming back.

Chevalier Point Café is a handy little café a stones throw from Pt Chev Beach and Coyle Park. Great size, nice outdoor seating area, both dog & kid friendly. However the complete lack of competition really shows in the food and understaffed service. The café was packed for a Tuesday which is always a good sign, so I was really excited to try my Vege stack with poached egg and hollandaise. However what I was served by the very friendly man was a loose pile of mashed potatoes masquerading as rosti followed by unseasoned spinach, fresh avo, cold semi-grilled tomatoes topped an OK poached egg but a terrible watery hollandaise with too much lemon. All hope would not be lost if they hired more staff and a chef to revamp the menu. Until then, getting ice cream after the beach and the cool ‘Birds of The Haruaki’ poster in the loo is all I can really recommend.

I would say this quite a humble café however has such a massive potential. Really a lovely space, there is quite a large seating area outside which is wonderful for those warm sunny days. I also noticed on my visit that there was a visitor with her little dog, who enjoyed laying beside the table in the sun. I popped in for some takeaway coffees with my friend on the way to Coyle Park which is luckily just a two or three minute stroll away. I also decided on a scrumptious blueberry muffin, and for my little toddler a mini sausage roll(which no one seems to make these days). Service was friendly, and quite quick, and I liked that the seating area, that was well set up with magazines and even kids story books. Set in a very quiet neighbourhood, parking is quite easy and we just pulled up right in front. The most noise you would get would probably be from a local bus driving past on the way to Pt Chevalier town. I will be back, because I would love to try a meal in.

I was quite shocked when I read that awful review in the Herald a couple of weeks ago. We have come here a few times with my nephew before we take him to the big playground down the road. My memory of this café was that it was ok and giving them one star was very unfair. No it’s not the coolest café in Auckland but it’s quite pleasant on a Sunday morning and the coffee was fine. We had some food here which was also fine and the guy who served it was very friendly. That review might have frightened some people off but if we are bringing our little nephew to the playground again, we would still definitely pop in here for a refreshment. The kid also liked that there was a big selection of ice creams to choose from and I had to hold him over the fridge for about ten minutes while he picked one.
