We decided we would take a walk up to the top of Queen St and maybe try out one of the restaurants near the top there. Ones that I think go unnoticed by a fair number of people unless you walk past them every day. We eventually decided to try out this Dak Hanmari, which is no relation, according to the guy inside, to the restaurant by the same name over in Takapuna. Nor it is a BBQ restaurant despite it having the set up for the burner’s on the tables. Guess they must have been used by the previous owner. The place was pretty much dead when we entered there being only two others seated and then a couple came in for some takeaways after we sat down. Maybe was because is a long weekend? Or maybe because of the time of day? Anyway the service was both friendly and speedy. Whenever we walked in and sat down the waiter was there with menu and water. The menu choices are not big but was more than enough for our tastes. We ended up ordering the BBQ pork, Steamed Pork and Vegetable Dumpling, the BiBimBab(which is mix of boiled rice with minced meat, egg, variety of freshly cooked vegetables and some side dishes) and lastly Soy Fried Chicken. The BiBimBab was absolutely delicious, but the real dish that«stole the show«(so to speak) was the Soy Fried Chicken. The taste was out of this world so much so i have no words to describe it. It was beyond mere delicious. My taste buds were screaming out for more but unfortunately with my fill of the previous dishes I could not manage to indulge in more than my stomach would allow. Plus i have a diet i am «trying» to adhere to. To sum it all up this Dak Hanmari may not be a BBQ joint alike its namesake on the shore, which is i might add worth a visit also, but it is just as good in every other way. Enough said!
