Deluxe Coffee Bar

I love Deluxe — finally some decent coffee in my neighbourhood! The only problem is that they’re not open Saturdays and are in the opposite direction to the way I walk the dogs, but that’s probably good for my bank balance. The space is an oasis of calm in the midst of light industrial and for me, a wee breather between missing my bus and panicking and catching another bus to bring me to work at a vaguely decent hour. The service is warm and friendly and the outside tables a perfect spot for a sip when the sun’s out

Keeping it simple has paid off for these two guys. Fraser and Adam know their coffee, know their customers and know how to do excellence just right! DLX roast their own beans (you can purchase these, whole or grinded to your specification) and pour consistently great cups of joe. It’s pretty straightforward really, you rock up to this little place in the industrial heart of Mt Roskill, order your coffee from a no-​fuss menu (black or white, in 6, 8 or 12 oz), and enjoy! They also have a small selection of food (salads, sandwiches, muffins and slices) and cold drinks that are again, simple and just right. Sit outside on long benches and enjoy the sunshine or sit at the bar and enjoy some banter with the guys, you choose!
They open at 6am, so this is totally the place to head to for your morning fix, on the way to work. Despite being around for only a year, they have fast become favourites, with a solid base of regulars. Simple is really just excellence at Deluxe!
A gem of a place that this neighbourhood has desperately needed for a long time. Happy 1^st birthday guys!
PS: They also have an outpost in the city, in the Viaduct (by the Maritime museum).
