We’re so lucky to have such a wonderful cellar door right on our doorstop! Foxes Island, of course sells Foxes Island wine but they also have a lot more going on in their beautiful space. They sell the amazing Zalto glassware, which is beautiful and dishwasher friendly plus they host a ton of events be it exhibitions, meet the maker nights to new vintages of their wines. Owners, Kelly and John are lovely and well-respected in the wine industry. Highly recommend popping and picking up a bottle(or case) of their beautiful wine!

As a business visitor to Auckland, I didn’t have time to get out to wine country so I was thrilled when I was taken here one night for an event. I was fortunate enough to try four wines and enjoyed them all(yes, I admit it, even the Sauv Blanc!). The Pinot and Chardonnay were highlights — with some interesting flavour charateristics one doesn’t often find. Foxes Island’s approach to wine making is a special one, with the natural yeasts on the grape skin allowed to fuel the fermentation process, rather than foreign additives. This results in wine that has beguiling flavour unique to each vineyard. I happily bought a bottle of each! John and Kelly are generous hosts, sharing stories and knowledge about their vineyard and winemaking process with guests at the cellar door. Not just a cellar door, you can also buy art and locally made jewelrey here which means you can make some gift purchases while also trying wine. A really clever concept, that makes the experience all the more valuable. A highly recommended wine experience for those staying in Auckland

Foxes Island Wines Cellar Door is an exceptional space in the heart of Grey Lynn for wine connoisseurs with a palate for premium, high quality wines. Expert winemaker John Belsham’s creations are on display in this tastefully designed showroom. John and Kelly are outstanding with their hospitality and make you feel warmly welcome, as they offer you a divine wine-tasting opportunity. Their selection of wines includes — Icon Series La Lapine 2010, Pinot Noir 2008, Dry Riesling 2009, Chardonnay 2009 and Sauvignon Blanc 2011 to name a few. These are not just exceptional tasting wines, but a mind-blowing gustatory experience. Foxes Island showroom on Williamson ave is open 6 days and also hosts Master Class Series events for discerning wine drinkers to know more about their wines. Easy parking available for clients.

‘The Cellar Door’ is the place to go for a memorable wine-tasting experience! Foxes Island offers a delicious selection of white and red wine including Pinot Noir(2008⁄09), Chardonnay(2009), Riesling(2009), Sauvignon Blanc(2011⁄12) and lastly, Lapine(2010) from the ‘Icon’ Series, equivalent to their hero wine. From walking in the ‘Cellar Door’ on Williamson Avenue, to greeting one of the team from Foxes Island, to tasting a drop of your choice, to taking in the ambience of artwork from Dick Frizzell is definitely a hedonistic experience, for any wine and/or art lover. They have monthly masterclasses to educate and showcase their wine, along with other speakers and artists intermittently. Open 6 days a week as well! Unilocal out.

This hip city ‘cellar door’ located near the corner of Ponsonby Road and Williamson Avenue is the first of it’s type that I have seen in Auckland. John Belsham’s Foxes Island produces Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The cellar door experience will allow you to try and buy all of their wines, including their limited release Lapine Sauvignon Blanc. In addition to the wine tasting and buying they will do masterclasses where you can ‘learn’ more about wines. John and his partner Kerry are clearly passionate about what they do and it shows up in the wines and in this nifty urban cellar-door experience.
