Pleasant surrounding and quick cheerful service. Had the brioche French toast with berries and the bacon butty — asked for the egg to be poached versus fried. No problems. Nicely presented and all as ordered.

Bland coffee. Full fat milk used despite asking for trim and barista insisted it was trim(I watched her make the coffee). Woman who took my money was sniffing the whole time and then proceeded to wipe condensation off the food cabinet with her bare hand. Would not recommend.

Amazing place for brunch. The eggs Benedict and French toast were INCREDIBLE, the service was great and the food came out really quickly. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a reasonably priced place for breakfast.

Best eggs Benedict you can get in the Greenland area. Strong coffees and quite nice as it is next to the park. This one is pet friendly(in the outdoor bit). Have a wicked cake selection as well and nice salads.

Every Suburb should have a cozy Café to make people feel at home. Frolic is the one in Royal Oak. On a rainy day, me and my girl friends just walked in for a spot waiting for rain to stop. Then we found out that it was such a hidden gem. Lunch time is always busy, but not crowded. You can see people come and go by your side, sharing their work news, life progress, family updates… You won’t feel disturbed, enjoying your nice and warm coffee by hand. Mushroom on toast is such a treasure I enjoyed from the menu. Toast is full of the essence of sauces, with mushroom raised the happiness to another level:) My friend’s fish cake is beautiful as well. Simple dish, with fresh ingredients, and then the warm flavor from Chef’s considerate cooking. Then you can just sit by the windows, watching people walking in the rain, and the beautiful sunshine comes out on you.

This has been a solid favorite for years … Reliable in yummy food… This morning for breakfast Eggs Benedict ordered by my son and a breakfast buttie for myself… Disappointing presentation as the photos attest… Nothing special about the salmon eggs Benedict and the breakfast buttie arrived with ordinary bacon eg not smoked and a bun and chutney… the onions were missing and as you can see unappetizing… It will take a while for customers to realize that the quality of food has gone down at Frolic but it will happen and they will loose customers.

A wonderful Mt Eden café, with a located right next to Cornwall park making them perfect for a late brunch after a morning stroll. With seating available both inside and out and a mixture of larger tables for groups and smaller tables for working lunch breaks — Frolic has the space to accommodate for any party– big or small. The brunch menu offers all the standard café classics, and this morning I chose to go with the creamy mushrooms(which come with bacon and a poached egg). They also switched out the bread(Paleo… #sorrynotsorry) for me and served the meal on a bed of spinach– free of charge. I was blown away by their flexibility and so pleased to not have to pay(as you so often do here in Auckland) or being labelled as a ‘fussy customer’. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and the place was well kept, with the sun shining on all their outdoor tables drawing you in off Manukau Road. Filtered water is available in bottles or by the glass(self service) and the coffee was decent and hot(monin brand used). The egg was perfectly poached(always a good sign of a chef’s skill and attention to detail) and whilst the mushrooms were not the best i have had — they were memorable and tasty. The bacon lacked life and inspiration– but mixed in with the rest of the components reached the passing mark. Overall, I was very impressed with my first visit here to Frolic, and would happily come back to try more of their menu.

This place is pretty good as far as café’s go in Auckland. Haven’t been for a while and the food is as good as I remember, but the service and coffee on my most recent visit have gone downhill. Stood at the entrance for a while three staff members looked at us until we eventually had to ask if we had to order at the counter and they asked us to take a table and they’d take our orders. The coffee was also very burnt. The food though was great. We had the mince and bacon on toast, a haloumi sandwich and soup of the day. All were excellent and you don’t get much better food than that. If they work on the coffee and the service then this place would be a top café in town.

Have had both a Sunday Brunch and a week day lunch. Good variety of choices, nice size portions too. Busy on Sundays. Then have a stroll round Cornwall Park to burn it off.

Our Cornwall Park picnic got quickly and severely rained on, so we sprinted for the nearest exit and came across Frolic Café, which was packed to the brim with dry people, hot coffees steaming in their cups and the delicious smell of breakfast wafting through the air. We luckily got a table and were able to just sneak in on the brunch menu, which we were very grateful for. First up, the coffee is to die for. Sure, we were wet and cold and absolutely desperate to warm up, but I’m pretty sure that didn’t cloud the experience too much. Coffee good. My dining partner ordered the gourmet mince on toast, which to me is a bit of an oxymoron but he liked it. I ordered the lemon potato hash, which was a take on eggs benedict and quite good, if a little pricey. While this place is nothing immensely to write home about, I would return there, particularly in the rain!

This café is a favourite of my boyfriend and I simply because their meals are cheap and really fresh and delicious. Our favourite selection on their breakfast menu is their option for a bagel, toast or a croissant with either preserves, avo and tomato or salmon cream cheese and salsa. I love the avo and tomato option and my boyfriend loves the salmon option. We can get both these meals along with coffees for under $ 30 and every time we have had brekkie here it has been delicious and an enjoyable experience thanks to the attentive staff and quick service. We love sitting at their outdoor tables but if the weather doesn’t permit this indoors is just as nice, especially round the corner where you feel out of the way.

I remember when this was Willy Wonka’s Ice Cream Parlour. Hard to imagine an Auckland without cafes, but our café culture is still quite youthful. Now it’s Frolic and as it’s conveniently located right across the road from the Cornwall Park Playground, it is luckily very family friendly. It has all the usuals on the menu, service is efficient and attentive and the food as good as anywhere. The Iced Chocolate is a particular hit with my kids(maybe a filter-through geddit from my Iced Coffee habit) and we always talk about the time my over-eager little man spilled his freshly delivered parfait all over the table and the ground. Thankfully we were outside and generously, they replaced it. Comes complete with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and this makes me wonder if I haven’t tried their Iced Coffe yet…

Frolic Café will always be that one school child who gets Chatter Rings first, or Roller Blades or an iPhone or whatever it is. The kid that flaunts his wares and thinks the newfound attention equals popularity. Frolic is certainly a busy brunch café, but only because nowhere nearby offers lots of seating and a brunch menu. It’s well positioned opposite the Auckland Stardome so attracts a lot of attention, but don’t confuse this with a good experience. The management and communication between staff seems non existent as each one franticly tries to achieve the one task set for them. Im on seating, he’s on serving, she’s clearing tables, go, go, go. Each time I’ve been I have had dirty utensils and coffee spills(once I had a full coffee cup shatter onto my jacket with barely an apology). You are shoveled into an available seat and are only expected to be heard from again when you wish to pay the tab. Take a walk into Greenwoods Corner or Mt Eden village for a decent brunch.
