Golden Tulip

One winter’s eve when we couldn’t get in to the overflowing New Flavour restaurant, we decided to venture next door to the Golden Tulip. Straight away you notice the difference — this place has made an effort with their décor! Specialising in Malaysian & Indonesian cuisine, the waitstaff at Golden Tulip are happy to help and recommend dishes.
The menu is extensive, as with a lot of Dominion Rd eateries! With classics such as Char Kuey Teow, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang and Nasi Lemak, the closest you’ll find to a Laksa is Curried Laksa Noodles. We plumped for a Mongolian Beef hotplate, Assam Prawns and a Hainanese Chicken. Each dish was a very good example of it’s type, without being mind-​blowing. The prawns were particularly good; plump & juicy with loads of the salty, sweet Assam sauce. The servings were huge, so we ended up taking the leftovers home.
Golden Tulip & it’s close Dominion Road neighbours Cinta and Santhiya’s are giving Malaysian food the reputation it deserves. We’ll definitely be back to work our way through the menu!
