Amazing food! The Chinese food on this small stretch of Dominion Road is incredible (just across Balmoral Rd if you’re coming from the city).
Tonight we decided on northern style Chinese food. We had 4 dishes, braised pork belly, tofu and vegetable soup, pickled cucumber and egg yolk battered prawns.
Our food came to the table within 10 minutes and without feeling rushed at all, we’d eaten and were on our way home in under 60 minutes. The food was perfectly seasoned and balanced. Priced at at an average $ 15 per dish.
I would happily recommend this area of Dominion Rd for authentic Chinese food in general, and this restaurant specifically for Northern style fare — there’s more to Chinese food on Dominion Rd than New Flavour :)

Well I’ll admit, that I too only visited here only because New Flavour was closed.
This place did not disappoint though. Fast, efficient service, tasty food and at a reasonable price. What is not to like? My friend and I ordered a meal each.
After reading others’ reviews though, I may have to pop by just to try their dumplings — which will suit me just fine!
With New Flavour and Burilla Dumpling getting increasingly popular, and often seen with lines out the door, it maybe time to find another favourite on the Balmoral strip.
This is BYO and is probably one of the more nicer looking restuarants, in terms of the interior in Balmoral.

Unlike a lot of its competition on Dominion Road, Flavour House is more than just a sterile white box for people to eat food in. It actually has some furnishings, dare I say even some class.
The food is much like what you’d expect if you’re familiar with Dominion Road cuisine, but it’s a good example of the style. We had dumplings which were about as good as dumplings we’ve had, and a spicy tofu thing which was delicious — and I say that as someone who’s not a huge fan of tofu. The prices aren’t the cheapest by Dominion Road standards, but all that means is that instead of ridiculously cheap they’re just very very cheap. A good choice for a feed, ideally with a group.

The only way this restaurant could be more accurately named would be by calling it Tasty Flavour House. Or Yum Flavour House. Or I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-New-Flavour House. To be honest, we only went there because New Flavour was closed but it made for a most delicious discovery. The vegetarian dumplings (egg and chives) were excellently (dare I say eggs-​ellently?) chive-​y and far surpassed the NF equivalent. We ordered four dishes between six of us which was the perfect amount for a group of hungry post-​partyers. There’s green tea aplenty, the staff were friendly, the food came quickly and if you’re stuck for table conversation you can always keep yourselves entertained with the hilarious menu translations.
