This little local bar is at the top of my street so I do find myself frequenting it when I can’t be bothered heading further afield. The clientèle can consist of a fairly cliquey Herne Bay crowd(they sometimes think they’re a bit too cool for school and trust me, they’re not…) so I do avoid the busiest nights but earlier in the week when it’s quieter it can be nice to pop in for a drink after work. There are outside tables which are great on balmy summer evenings, and they have gas heating for when the nights get colder. The food is good, I can’t really remember what we had last time but ordered a few different plates to share.

I came here on a whim with my partner. We felt like a place that was nice enough to be a wee bit special, but somewhere we didn’t have to get changed for after work. Herne bay Local was perf. It was a Thursday evening and the place was pretty busy with after work drinks and groups eating. We were seated straight away by a great waitress who stayed with us for the night. You can order normal meals, but the small plates menu looked too good to pass up. We ordered three dishes to start and were still a bit peckish so chucked in another one for good measure. Sticky ribs, blue cheese ball, salt and pepper squid and bok choy. Yum. The lighting is dim inside which I quite like, and the tables are made up of high and low seats. The bar is well-equipped for any craving and the bar staff is knowledgeable. A really nice relaxed but impressive little restaurant. I’m a fan.
