Simply great. They source very fresh ingredients served up fast with friendly staff. This is one of those little neighborhood gem finds that keep going back to every week. It’s small, quaint, friendly with very high quality, fresh ingredients.

Decided on a late lunch at Janken in Herne Bay. It is a local of mine being only a two– minute walk from my place and yet I have only eaten there once before. Grass is always greener, etc…
Janken’s menu isn’t large for lunch but still it wasn’t easy to choose. Finally the chicken curry with vegetables won. It came in a pretty porcelain dish with rice, a green salad, small dish of pickled vegetables, another little dish of diced pear, orange and kiwifruit topped with a delicate dollop of coconut cream. A perfect end to an earthy, piquant curry. The rice was multigrain but still very white. I realise white is traditional –however, I would prefer the option of brown. A cute pottery cup of green tea also sat on the tray. A satisfying lunch and I love that they use free range chicken. Bargain at $ 16. Definitely worth a visit.
