you wouldn’t think from the location or outside, but this place is busting with atmosphere! great service, great food and the place was heaving on a Wednesday night ?!? Recommend booking for larger groups. The broccoli salad was unexpectedly yummy.

I am very much a fan of Hokkaido Restaurant and Sake Bar! The food here is fantastic, it is affordable, there is an incredibly large menu and it is a perfect place to come with a group. I also really love how this restaurant has a true ethnic feel about it. I would absolutely have to recommend the beef tataki, FANTASTIC! Their sushi roles are spot on! They also do a great miso soup. I have only ever had the small sashimi platters, but if you get the large they bring it out in a wooden pirate ship! It’s awesome! Fortunately for me the times I have been here I have managed to get a table, however they do get very busy especially in the evenings, so I would recommend booking. Located in the Lunn Ave shops there is plenty of parking available.

You probably wouldn’t go out of your way to go to Lunn Ave, but if you’re out there anyway and feel like Japanese, Hokkidon is your place. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but inside it’s a nicely styled Japaneese restaurant and the food is very good. We score a booth which is cosy and private for our group of 5. We’ve bought BYOW that the waitress promptly opens for us, great start. We order a selection for the table and it pretty much all comes out at once. The sashimi is super fresh, we have prawn and chicken skewers smeared with a delicious mayo and a platter of sushi that goes down a treat. We are all very pleased with the food and service, go home full and content and the bill is only $ 25 each = winner!

Hokkaido is a rather small restaurant(well it’s narrow), but deceptively longer inside than it actually looks from the outside. Inside the place is very nice and has a rather new feel to it, but at the same time it still keeps to the old traditional style of Japan. I really like the seating arrangements that they have, with the individual booths. They serve Japanese food; however it is not exactly traditional Japanese style cooking, but more like Chinese/Japanese cuisine. The food is nice though, but the portions are rather small(I was still hungry after having one of the lunch bento boxes). In saying that, the dishes are quite reasonably priced. The service was good too.
