This local business has been around forever and is probably often overlooked for the bigger chains that advertise on TV. I’ve done up a couple of houses and this is the place I ended up buying from despite covering all the bases and checking out everywhere else first. Best solutions are closest to home and all that. They specialise in vinyl flooring and however unfashionable that may sound in these days of snap-together wood veneer boards and imported tiles, it’s still a damn practical solution that is durable beyond the first year, won’t smash everything you drop on it or freeze your feet in the colder months. The vinyls they have here(and most are on the roll, in the store so you can buy and have it delivered the next day) are up to the minute designs and nothing like your nana’s kitchen floor. You can get vinyl that looks like wood in the form of parquetry, linear boards or whatever and although they sound tacky, they actually look pretty good. There’s classic chequerboard styles, flecks, marbled effects, European style«tiled» designs, you name it. The staff are helpful and delivery prompt, and they’ll even install it for you at an extremely competitive price. If in doubt about using vinyl, come in here and they’ll change your mind. Good for the budget too.

That KR Flooring is really the only place to go if you need vinyl or carpet for a show is an open secret amongst theatre people; so the next time you see a show and it has some sort of flooring item on stage, chances are pretty high that it’s come from here. The reasons for this are that they are super helpful, prices are reasonable, and the owner is happy to do things like drop 16 metres of green carpet off to you at 7am on a Monday morning even though their delivery service doesn’t run then, so he brings it himself in his own car. That is service. I’m sure they would be just as helpful if you were looking for flooring for your home or workplace. The one thing to be mindful of is that they are not open on weekends so you need to go there on weekdays, although I’m sure if this was really not possible, you could view by appointment early morning or in the evening.
