Finally I get to pitch in my 2 cents about this Milford icon ~ though for the moment, only on the basis of coffee and cabinet food. This is the kind of place where you need to time your visit wisely if you want to be able to hear your friend talk and yourself think. My mum’s been here a few times and she says it’s super loud and ‘echoey’ when it’s busy because of the open space, concrete walls etc. So we devised a cunning plan to swoop in after 3 this afternoon, when it would presumably be quiet. And it was. Just us and one other customer initially, after which a few schoolkids came in. Since it was empty I could get a good look at the décor, and I loved it! So many ostensibly clashing little details, and yet they all come together and the effect isn’t overpowering at all. The interior as a whole is spacious, sunny and relaxed. Love the rustic wooden tables, the rough and uneven concrete wall, the split level and the open yet cozy layout… and then of course there’s the mural along the far wall. Mum and I played«Where would you like to live?» for a bit, like the mature and serious ladies we are(the top righthand tower is mine!) Staff were very friendly and good-humoured; coffee was delicious and mum oohed and ahhed over the design on her cappuccino. Plus they have Stevia, which is always a plus in my book as I struggle with the overpowering taste of Equal. We split a caramel slice and a ginger slice. Both were very good, but I’m a connoisseur of ginger crunch in particular, and this one was up there. You could taste real ginger in there, that distinctive ‘kick’ that’s almost more an aroma than a taste. Love it! Looking forward to coming back to sample their eggs bene(or who knows, maybe I’ll even dare to be more adventurous for once) the next time I happen past and see it’s relatively quiet.

Still as good as ever and with a quiet bunch in today it’s a very enjoyable spot for a breakfast meeting!

We had a really nice brunch in a pleasant and busy space. Delightful staff and good coffees. Mr had the portobello stack and mrs had the haloumi and roast veg salad. Both were flavoursome and fresh. Lots of other interesting menu items. A good find.

Little King gets a thumbs up in my book! Lovely light space with a few outdoor tables to bask in the sunshine and a friendly, open vibe. And even doable by bike(ferry to Devonport and then along some residential streets with ocean views to boot). After the lovely little ride, the tangy beet citrus detox smoothie($ 8) was perfect to cool me off — served in a nice large jar & sprinkled with chia seeds. For lunch, I opted for the tofu croquette($ 18) served with two poached eggs, avocado, tomato, rocket and hollandaise in a shot glass. Hitttting the spot. Other temptations: the waffles!(you had be at ‘carmelized banana’) plus the various cabinet items(including a very nice looking ginger slice). Next time. Also pro-tips: they stock Hakanoa handmade ginger beer(CHEERING), and they serve six barrel sodas and Supreme coffee.

This is our first time at Little King. We knew they were by the same owners of Dear Jervois but were not expecting the menu to be almost identical! The décor is definitely better than it’s College Hill partner and service is much more efficient and attentive, by ten-fold. The caramelised banana waffles were delicious and not overly sweet. I’d also recommend the ginger latte, which was super creamy. The beetroot juice was refreshing and came with chunks of beetroot — not for the faint-hearted.

I visited Little King Café not having ever heard of it but trusting my friends when they said it was good — they were totally right. Great little café in Milford with great service. I had the eggs benedict, which was great, however had food envy of everything that was coming out of the kitchen and going to other table. I also had an iced chocolate and with my first sip I knew that it was definitely made with Lewis Roads Whittakers chocolate milk — amazing! Will definitely be heading back here asap.

This place is an awesome addition to the what was once staid Milford good food and great coffee and very child friendly… but it is so noisy … I can’t take my family there as they all complain they can’t hear anything with the concrete flooring and bad acoustic

We had a great brunch experience here! It was a busy Sunday, but we still got a table easily and were served our coffees quickly. I had the eggs benedict with bacon and hash browns, it was delicious. The café itself has a really cool layout, and the service was pretty good. Overall I really liked this place, and I’ll definitely go back!

Heard a lot about this place so I was excited to try! We went for Saturday brunch and I ordered the tofu croquette along with a black coffee. The only vegan menu items are the smoothies unless you ask to customise a couple of the meals, but there are quite a few options for vegetarians. The food was lovely but I wasn’t a huge fan of the coffee or the atmosphere — it’s incredibly loud when it’s busy and it made it very hard for us to talk to each other! Definitely not a good choice if you’re wanting a more intimate meal or looking for a place to catch up and chat. One other gripe about my experience was that the waitress began clearing our table when only two out of our group of three had finished eating — extremely bad form in my opinion and not only makes you feel like you’re being rushed out but is uncomfortable for the person still finishing their meal. All the staff were very nice in all other respects but we were really quite annoyed by the expedited table-clearing!

Food is fantastic, with a nice atmosphere. I find this café very noisy though and it is often hard to hear conversations.

Finally got to take a friend here for lunch– after pencilling it for months. Got their Pastrami Best ugly bagel. Came on a lovely dark grey rectangular dish-plate with two pieces of bagel stacked on one side. A piece of pastrami on each half with smeared hot mustard(very nice) and topped with melted hole-y swiss cheese pieces. Came with radish shoots balanced on the centre and a pickle on each bread. Sundried tomato pesto in a glass shot glass placed on one side– used it all up, very good flavour and texture. Delicious– very toasted so a bit difficult to cut but yum, worth the effort. Also got one of their superfood beetroot raspberry smoothies. Was a very interesting mix of flavours but yum– and bonus: healthy. Had sprinkled sesame seeds on the surface and mixed with chia seeds. Keen to try their others! A stunning little café in Milford central– park on one of the side streets nearby. A communal table in the central area with smaller tables in the front and back(couch/bench seating far in the back). Outdoor tables available also– which is great when the sun is out. Love the exposed concrete wall on one side of the inside, balanced with the black and white painted one on the opposite. Very cute kids play area in the back corner with a black whale just above it– with curly, pacific patterns all through it. Beautiful. Nice use of tiles and sketched prints that are framed on the wall. A delicious looking cabinet– filled with tarts, cupcakes and slices. Look forward to coming back to sample that, their other drinks and more of their menu!

Had a very nice Sunday branch there catching up with the friend. The place was really busy, but thankfully the wait for a table for 2 wasn’t too long, just under 10 min. It’s a great fitted space, and it also can accommodate a very large groups of people with the huge table in the middle. The menu has a big range of options, from cabinet fritata and pastries to typical breakfast options including waffles to salads. Their smoothies looks great too. The one with peanut butter and blueberries looked very intriguing. I had to pass on it this time, but will definitely be back to check it out. I opted in for Grilled Haloumi salad with roasted veges. It was easily one of the best salads I had. Very flavorful and well thought out. Add a good Supreme coffee to it and you got a winning combination for a Sunday branch. Loved it.

The small exterior is deceptive as inside there’s plenty of room, it has cool décor and even a kiddies corner for those needing one. Menu and counter food available. We had mango smoothies, creamy mushrooms and the mince. All yum. Will def go again.

I was chuffed to see this new addition to the Milford shops when I moved home. The box hedge lining the pavement, the white washed outdoor table and bench… cute. Inside the fit out is youthful and fun, exactly what you would expect from a café named ‘Little King.’ There is a huge wooden communal adorned with freshly cut flowers and mismatched tables and chairs reminiscent of your local primary — circa 1990. A playful mural spans an entire wall and exposed light fixtures dangle from the ceiling. Supreme is the coffee of choice and but if caffeine ain’t your thing they also have a wide range of herbal teas. As for the menu, it has all the typical brunch fare plus a few extras including about FIVE, yes I said FIVE, different waffle dishes. However, when I went I couldn’t get past all the good-looking cabinet food and being a sucker for baked goods of the savory variety I opted for the spinach and cream cheese muffin. It was served hot out of the tray and was moist, fluffy and god damn delicious. What else is pretty choice is that from 7am — 1030am on Weekdays they offer early bird specials. This includes deals such as eggs how you like them AND a reg coffee for only $ 9.90…genius! I guess the early bird really does catch the worm.
