I have been disappointed with most of my experiences at Macpac. They have a good historic reputation in NZ, but their current merchandise doesn’t live up. The merino clothes I’ve bought shrank and pilled up after just a few washings.
The worst experience, though, was in trying out their tramping packs. I went in to see what they had on offer. Unlike other shops (see Living Simply and Bivouac) they were pushy and tried hard to sell me a pack that was much too big for me.
I don’t trust the merch at Macpac. The quality is lousy for the price, and the service is worse.
