It had been a while since I last experienced Maison Vauron which was attending a corporate event — a virtual wine tour around France — the tour was virtual not the wine. It was a great corporate event so I was interested to see whether they had continued the experience and the quality. I am pleased to say they have — knowledgeable «assistants» help you with wine and cheese choices. This is just as well as the variety and different names and styles could leave one bewildered.
You must forgive the poor memory of the names but I can highly recommend the walnut cheese and the soft goat cheese. Not very helpful on the name of the particular cheeses but you should go and taste and select your own favourites.
A definite for a regular visit.

A Francophile’s dream, Maison Vauron is stocked full of the very best French food and wine. There’s beautiful French cheeses, cured meats, delicate pastries and shelf upon shelf of imported French accoutrements.
What I love most about Maison Vauron is it’s authenticity — walk in and you are greeted with a cheery Bonjour! Not sure about a product? Ask the staff, they are incredibly knowledgable and more than happy to help.
Maison Vauron are also passionate about education and host regular tastings with French producers. Keep an eye out on their website or sign up to their newsletter to keep up to date with the latest events

If you are tired of visiting faux-French cafés and quasi-authentic wineries, you need to visit Maison Vauron. It is a bona fide French store, that can claim to have a «rustic feel» without it meaning «merde». It is two levels of blessed French imports and well versed (French) staff.
Because Maison Vaurons also has the largest selection of French cheeses (many other New Zealand stores being supplied from here) you may hear it referred to as La Fromagerie or C’est Fromage. Besides all the cheeses and wine, they have plenty of other French nibbles, and exquisitely match these at informative wine tastings held in their loft.
Earnestly passionate staff who will assist in your choice of genuine French products. A modest venue, just on the edge of Newmarket, that is a must for any food or wine enthusiasts.
