I shouldn’t review the park as high as I would prefer to keep this to myself — but better to be honest. A good little suburban park — good parking, safe kids playground, beach volleyball courts and the beach a hop and a skip away. The Creek provides a bit of action if the tide is in as the yachts and fisher boats trailing and out over the 4 hours of tide. Good takeouts and coffee close by in Milford and it is not surprising the number of people who get fish and chips from PJs(another secret) and eat them on the picnic tables worth a visit

Not my favourite beach on the Shore but if you visit during low tide you get to walk around and splash in the rock pools. The kids love it, sometimes you get lucky & spot a crab. The parking is limited so it gets busy during the summer, especially at dinner time. There is heaps of grass for picnics and a playground for the younger ones. Mr Whippy is often parked on site too.

I probably like Milford park more than the average punter because I grew up down the road. Throughout my childhood, I spent many a day at Milford Park climbing the trees, playing BYC and go home stay home. Trip down memory lane aside, Milford Park is still a great spot to bring the kiddies. There is a freshly painted, bright blue playground, toilets, BBQ pits AND the Beach is right next door. Not to mention in Summer there is frequently concerts or outdoor movie screenings. Oh, and for all those runners out there every Wednesday night there is a fun run that leaves from the Milford Cruising Club in the park and goes to Takapuna and back for only $ 7($ 3 for kids), free drink included!

This is one of my favourite stops on the shore for a picnic or fish and chips at the park before a walk or swim at the beach. Beautiful and scenic looking across at Rangitoto island in the distance, I love that the park is large enough not to feel small when it fills up with a busy weekend crowd. There are lots of large trees to lie under in the shade, and for the big kids to climb for fun. The Milford reserve playground is well equipped with lots of slides, and swings and a neat jungle gym to keep those little monkeys content. Public toilets are located right next to the playground for everyone’s convenience. The parking can however get very full and you may on occasion need to park further down Craig street or just on the side streets and walk down to the beach. Usually the ice cream van is here, selling drinks and sweet dessert and this is always a hit with the kids!

Milford is a cute wee suburb. Yes, there is an abundance of elderly people, but this actually makes for a very peaceful place. I don’t get to Milford park a lot, but it’s one of those places that whenever i’m there I always say i should come more often. The park itself sits with an estuary full of boats on one side, and the white sands of Milford Beach on the other. The park itself is pretty big and there is plenty of room to throw a ball around, set up a picnic or play a game of cricket. There is also a really good playground for the kids(or you), and plenty of trees to shde you from the Kiwi sun. Milford Beach is never as busy as Takapuna Beach, so is a great option for a peaceful solo trip or to settle in with a big group I propose, that on the next sunny day, you pack a picnic, take your book, and spend the day lazing under a tree, soaking up the rays and paddling in the crystal clear waters.
