Homely feel, real people servicing in a nice environment. Great location. Yet to eat the food as I write this but I’m predicting really really tasty! Close to great pubs for predrinks.

Nice coffee and great big brekkie. Love the potato hash cakes, and hubby is a fan of the homemade bread toast. But the best is never getting attitude for asking to split the meal. We are regulars!

I am an absolute sucker for vintage and retro, and had Monterey recommended to me on account of the cute décor and vintage trimmings Monterey has on show. If you’re not a fan of bygone eras, don’t be turned off by this — Monterey does vintage and retro in a very minimalist, classy way (rather than making the place so in-​your-​face 60s that your eyes water). On top of this, Monterey serves one of the best coffees in the area and matches it with food that is a mix of traditional café food and contemporary fare. I took my grandparents here, and was taken here by my partner’s parents, which just goes to show how popular this place is with people of all ages.
