Mozaik is a great café as it has such a wide variety of foods on its menu. Standard breakfast and lunch foods, but also Middle eastern takes on the usual breakfast and lunch fare and some great Middle eastern dishes that are available all day. Came here with a good friend who had poached eggs on toast. Also came with hashbrowns and a grilled tomato — so big ups to Mozaik for the extras and charging what most places would just for basic eggs on toast. I wasn’t in a breakfast mood and had a Turkish platter which was flat bread, hummus, falafel and lamb meatballs. Just what I felt like. The meatballs and hummus were great, falafel was a bit dry. But I’d definitely get it again. Service was hit and miss. Started off really good. But then two staff members just chatted amongst themselves while the other waitress tried to make coffees, take orders, deliver food to tables and clear tables. But once we asked for some service it was pretty good . The coffee was burnt — but in their defence I didn’t take it back and get another one so can’t say if that’s the usual standard. I’ll be back here. I love mezze plates, and anything middle Eastern.

This place has changed hands(and names) a lot over the last few years; for some reason it never seems to stay the same thing for very long. However, I’m hoping that Mosaik stays exactly how it is for a while yet. I went in here for breakfast this morning and was very impressed with their Eggs Benedict. At $ 18, it was on the pricey side, but it was really good. They have an extensive breakfast menu, with standard dishes like big breakfasts, egg white omelettes and muesli. They also have a lunch and dinner menu that I would very much like to go back and try. They also have an upstairs function room. As it was a weekday morning, it was very quiet in there, so the service we received was exemplary. The waiter was very friendly and the meals were brought out quickly. It was a great place to enjoy a quiet breakfast on a sunny morning with the French doors open to Mt Eden road.

Ok so straight up I think that Mozaik has a naff name. That whole phonetic spelling thing is just annoying and I really doubt it is named after a German Comic. Then when I found out if was yet another CHAIN, I was even less interested. However. Needs must and one night nothing else in the village felt right and having heard some surprisingly gushing praise about it, we braved the empty restaurant for dinner. Service was fine from our waitress but again, as is so sadly common, the person in charge this night seemed to be let’s say, not much of a people person. The prices for dinner here are pretty steep and when you are really actually sitting in a café/pub with cakes in the cabinet, it just doesn’t fly. I was hoping for a Circus Circus-type experience — that elusive café in the evening thing but no such luck. If they were doing café food for dinner just as they do during the day, there would be no problem. The problem lies in a dinner menu that thinks it’s fine dining being consumed in a café. Sadly, said food was pretty average because of this, with my husband’s Eye Fillet being particularly disappointing. Not good. It’s amazing what can be forgiven when the pricing is appropriate. Not sure if I’ll give it another chance, but if I do, it will definitely be during the day.

Situated opposite Frasers in the middle of the Mt Eden Village, Mosaik is in a prime location. Both a café, bar and restaurant, Mosaik serves a variety of food and beverages and means regardless of your mood or appetite, there will be something on their menu that will appeal. I have been to Mosaik on three occasions and each has been very different, though all were enjoyable. The first time was for lunch midweek. A delicious homemade burger and salad with ice cold juice was exactly what I was after, and sitting in the sun devouring it was perfect. The second time was for a 21st birthday party. Mosaik has an upstairs function room that can be hired, complete with a second bar and room enough for a wee dance floor. It was a great, cosy venue and with no room hire fee, a fantastic place to keep in mind. My most recent Mosaik experience was for a Sunday night birthday dinner. Glasses of wine, bottles of bubbly, Mezze platter, and huge portions of pasta for our mains — we had waaaay to much food but felt we’d definitely got our money’s worth. The staff are all incredibly attentive, and even bought our dog a bowl of water to drink upon our arrival. The only downside was the bathroom doesn’t get quite as much attention as you’d hope — the bins are often overflowing with paper towels. But aside from this, Mosaik is a great place to dine, catch up with friends and family, people watch and celebrate!

There’s a few Mosaiks dotted around the city and I generally like the vibe in them — they are nicely decorated and there is a slightly Eurpoean feel. The one in Mt Eden is a good one as it has its very own deli. We ordered the Izmir burger and egg white omelette. The burger contained haloumi cheese and some chorizo which was an interesting and tasty combination. I had heard that some Hollywood types like to eat egg white omelettes when they have their power lunches so I thought I would give it a try. It contained chicken and mushroom(always a good combination!) and was really good. The service in Mosaik was friendly and very effiicent. We rounded off our meal with a couple of flat whites which were also excellent. You can go to Mosaik for lunch or dinner and they also do a tapas and kids menu. I am looking forward to going back!

As the ambassador of Miss Africa Auckland, we needed a venue to host a meet and great for the contestants. The venue that suited our needs was Mozaik Mt Eden. We were on the upstairs level away from the busy restaurant and when I walked into the room the chairs had been set up, the muffins we had requested were covered and the room was perfect. We managed to fit about 15 girls into the venue without a hustle and the area on the far right of the room was perfect for us to shoot a promo video. Although we where upstairs, we were well looked after by wait staff who would ask if we needed any drinks or anything else. The staff were also more than happy to escort some of the girls who got lost upstairs. The muffins were amazingly delicious and the coffee was roasted to perfection! I recommend this location for birthdays and get togethers! Nothing beats excellent customer service.

I went to Mozaik in Mt Eden for lunch with my husband and 18 month old. We walked in and we were helped out by the friendly waiter who quickly cleared the table we wanted and made room for the high-chair(child friendly café plus have child menu). A few minutes later a waitress came and took our order, she was very friendly and made some nice comments about our daughter. The drinks came quickly and so did the meals(however they weren’t too busy). My husband ordered Scotch Fillet with fries and salad and I ordered Izmir Burger with fries(something a bit different a burger with chorizo). Both meals were nicely presented, very tasty and satisfying. The waiter staff checked on us a couple of times to ensure everything was okay with our meals and got my feedback on the Izmir Burger. The café has recently opened and it has been done up quite nice and funky inside. We received very friendly service and would definitely go back if in the area again.
