I didn’t see George. But I felt good in this store. Attractively detailed with helpful staff. Shame the coffee isn’t as good as the design

We were thinking of buying a Nespresso machine after a lovely experience at the Sydney store where we had a delightful salesperson and were offered coffee to taste. We stopped in at the Newmarket store and the experience was really disappointing. Haughty salespeople, no offer of a coffee tasting, etc. Today I tried to phone the toll-​free number because I had some questions, but gave up after waiting for 10 minutes. I went on-​line and their website was closed for maintenance! I think I’ll give it a miss.

The store looks great. It is modern to the point of being science-​fiction, a very cutting edge aesthetic. The array of coffee machines which at first glance just look like whacky contraptions, the multicoloured coffee packets, the strange round counter — I think they have done a good job to make it look interesting.
It was extremely busy so I didn’t judge them for making me wait for my coffee and the coffee was delicious. I had a sales lady keep talking to me even after I had told her that I was not really in the market for a new coffee machine. I got the impression that there might have been a meeting that morning where the floor staff were told to not give up and to keep on chasing the sale. Anyway, it was annoying.

Whenever we’re in New Market we always pop into the Nespresso store. As my partner is Swiss he was very excited when this store opened up in New Market as previously we had to buy the capsules online. As this store is pretty salesy (as another reviewer mentioned) especially compared to the stores in Europe, it did take us a wee while to get used to the different vibe. But in saying that the staff are incredibly friendly and are always willing to make us a coffee so we can try a new variety. The décor in the store is very cool, and I love being able to check out all the new machines. All in all we just like being able to purchase our coffee from a human instead of online and we love our Pixie Nespresso machine!
