We went on Saturday night for what we hoped would be a quiet dinner. It was 20:00, and we were really hungry. This is our local and they do BYO, so we thought, why not. If you are expecting wine glasses, or have a reallly nice bottle of wine(I brought a $ 70+ bottle of Brunello di Montalcino), I would suggest not to bring it. While the food was good ol’ Italian comfort food, I kind of felt like it was a waste drinking it out of tumblers. Save your nice wine and grab a bottle from the Glengarry next door. At the end of the night, we spend nearly $ 100(not including the wine) on two starters, two mains, shared dessert, and a bottle of BYO wine. The ravioli was super nom, and we enjoyed the pizza we got. The atmosphere was… welll… entertaining to say the least. The place was full of drunk girls under the age of 23 screaming, shrilling, and laughing(as least they were having a good time). The table behind us(one of the very few tables of men) said that every time they come here they are usually bombarded with hen’s parties. Would I go back again? Probably after I drink a bottle of wine(so I can maintain the level of sobriety that everyone else was at) and a crowd of friends. Or, maybe I will get takeaway instead.

Best Italian place that I have found in Auckland. The Ravioli Verdi is TODIEFOR!!! I have to be careful not to come here too often as the food is so good I would need a month to work off the damage at the gym. The staff are super friendly and it is also BYO for those on a budget. The drinks menu could use some tweaking but there are so many bars within cooee that it makes no difference to me.

Why do I love it? * very friendly staff * It’s BYO and there is a bottle store nextdoor * The pizzas are yummy and authentic * The other menu items are great too * They now have a Sunday afternoon happy hour with beer and pizza for $ 12 * Great for small of big groups * Good for take out and delivery too!

The food was delicious, but the wait time was ridiculous once we had ordered and it was hotter than the face of the sun inside. We asked to open a window but weren’t allowed to! Otherwise pleasant experience. Average price, not to expensive, but not cheap.

When an Indian girl loves ITALIAN she is fussy as HELL!!! pane & Vino menu was so perfect I couldn’t ask em to change anything :), I normally like ordering things outside the menu when I go to restaurant coos am a vegetarian alright and I m just being a nice towards the environment and animals by not harming em’so am allowed to be fussy, but everything I wanted was in the menu its like the restaurant was made for fussy people. It was with 3 beautiful girls. a girly dinner night with 3 stunning hot Indians LOL :) they ordered pizzas and I ordered a creamy tomato based gnocchi, I have to say it was the perfect blend of tomato and cream, it was neither too tamotoee or creamy, it was just perfect, they served us wine, I don’t really like wine but my other 2 girls happily gulped it down loll. WE didn’t order dessert don’t think so? But omg! I left the place with a smile :) Thank you pane and Vino! loved your menu and food, a lil friendly staff will ;) im not cutting your stars this time. :D

We come here often for an early dinner with kids. Great atmosphere for youngsters with delicious pizzas. Simple Italian food, nothing fancy or pretentious but great value with wine by the litre too! A little rough around the edges but part of its charm, we love the pizzas and pasta. Desserts a bit hit and miss. 4 stars for consistency and reliability and friendly service

I went to Pane e Vino for a friend’s dinner, one Monday night. I think Monday night must be the best night to go there as you get an Abuffatta Italiana(I’m guessing Italian buffet?) for $ 17 per head if you book for six people or more. There is no choice allowed with this buffet and the food is pretty simple. We had a vegetarian in our group and they pointed out a vegetarian dish on the table rather than making any allowances, which was fine by us. I found the food to be a bit stodgy and thought a small salad between six was a bit stingy, however the carbs kept coming until we had to tell them«no more food please». Good service, atmosphere and value for money.

Pane e Vino is one of the choices invariably discussed for our children’s birthdays. Kid friendly as well as grown-up friendly, my son calls this«the place with the bikes hanging from the roof». And indeed it is. The parking here is not too bad and the food and people make any meal a celebration. This place has not been around as long as some of Auckland’s other well known Italian eateries but crikey it’s so good I hope it never leaves us. I love me some carbs with dairy and never more so than in the form of bread, pizza and pasta. Oh yeah and I quite like wine too. Quite a lot. You can buy your wine here fairly reasonably if you stick with the house wines, and being Italian, they are more than satisfactory. And who doesn’t love a caraffe? A bottle of the Chianti will set you back $ 45 and the Valpolicella $ 46 because unfortunately European wines are still notoriously expensive in New Zealand. Corkage is $ 5 if you choose to take your own. There are set menus, catering, takeout and even delivery for those lucky enough to be close by. I wish I could tell you about all the menu items but I just can’t ever seem to get away from ordering either the Ravioli ai Funghi(deep deep deliciousness) or the Ravioli Verdi with Bruschetta to start — any version of the Bruschetta will do but preferably all of them if we have a big group. There is a lot more than that on offer though and I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about the food here. The service is also classic rowdy Italian and in fact when I was snapping my pic of the restaurant, one of the staff waved out and insisted on being in the photo. I truly LOVE Pane e Vino and everything they do — I also love that they have a really informative website which comes in handy when organising dinner with older family members. Something happens when you’re older that makes you scared of places you haven’t tried before so checking it all out online in advance is a big help for any inter-generational get together.
