The original and still the best value for money in Auckland. Delicious stock, well-cooked noodles with the right amount of spring, and a great range of toppings. The price for the base ramen — $ 9.80 — has barely changed in 20 years(the toppings have gone up a wee bit). The place is often full to the gunnels with Japanese people after work, and if they don’t know what good ramen is, I doubt anyone else knows better. P. S. Why would you order spring rolls in a Japanese place? Order the gyoza.

Seeing is believing. However, when it comes to restaurant, it should be eating is believing. I believe it is a fairly nice Ramen place to fill the hungry stomach in this crowded city pace. Soy sauce, Miso, Salt and Tonkotsu Ramen, four elementary Ramen but classic to choose. There are more to come if you would like some special treat to your noodle. Quite a Japan Style! Honestly, for this kind of noodle place, always try the basic and best one. Tonkotsu is not a bad choice. Nice soup, slow cooked pork slice, bamboo shoots and fresh spinach for a taste bonus. What’s more, you can choose fried dumplings, they call Gyoza and some pork stew for small bites. They are both quite authentic. Just wish they could turn these seats a bit more tidy, then it would be closer to my Ramen Place expectation.

Fantastic little hole in the wall. The broth pots are steaming, the ramen tangled up on the large laddles, the happy customers huddled over bowls. Good food, not the most spectacular ramen, but pretty good ramen south of the equator. Prices are fantastic, and all is a well, unfazed experience. Definitely trying it again, as it was a great discovery.

I’m sorry to say it, but Ramen Daikoku is what my friends described as the low point of their trip to NZ. We all loooooove ramen, and this was just a disappointment. I had the tonkotsu shoyu, a go-to fave of mine, my friend had the veggie ramen, and her husband had the chicken ramen. We shared an order of mini spring roll, which tasted like the kind you can buy in the grocery store frozen foods section and fry up at home. None of the ramen was very good, unfortunately. The broths were all really meh, the noodles tasted overcooked, and the ingredients lacked flavor. This place is close to my work so I was hoping it could be a new fave, but I’d just rather not go back. I will give them credit — when my friend ordered the vegetarian, our waitress made sure to let us know the broth is made with meat. My friend is not a strict vegetarian, so it was fine, but we really appreciated the heads up. Good service but not good food, sorry.

Delicious! I can’t get over the spicy pork belly ramen, it has been the cornerstone of all three meals I have had here since I «discovered» this ramen bar a month or two ago. The service is fast and efficient without being bothersome. The ramen serving is a great size for a six foot one man with a healthy appetite, flavoursome and reasonable for $ 12 – 14. The spicy pork belly is a magnificently balanced combination of spicy, salty, sweet and light yet rich. The ramen is highly recommended but dont get tempted to go off topic, gyoza can be skipped.

I’ve always seen this place as I walk out of Britomart heading somewhere else, and I’m disappointed in myself for not checking it out sooner. High quality broth, well-cooked noodles, quick service and more than reasonable prices. Really what more could you want. Ramen Daikoku was perfect for a quick bite before heading to a gig. In fact, the food was so quick that we didn’t have to wolf it down before heading to the venue. A+ in my book, will definitely strive to become a regular here!

Another of my favourite«nothing flash«eating venues. It’s small ;so seating can be limited if it gets busy; the staff I find are quick in taking order and then the food coming out. The menu consists of all the usual in these sort of Japanese restaurant plus they have monthly specials. The price is pretty good, the place clean and a good thing is you can watch the food being prepared as the kitchen is open. But I find their portions of meat a little less compared to another Japanese restaurant I reviewed but barring that it is equally delicious. Drinks are available as well as help yourself water. No credit card facilities though, only cash or eftpos. It’s tucked away in the queen st side of Tyler st and could be easy to walk past if not really looking.

First place I’d rather go to if I’m thinking Ramen in Auckland. Small ramen(japanese noodles) noodle house tucked around the corner of Britomart. AUTHENTIC! Food is served quite fast which is great if you’re starving. Portion sizes are GREAT! I only recommend the combo’s if you’re hungry enough to eat a whole cow as the ramen itself is quite a large serving. Large range of flavours and toppings, variety of sides. My favourite is the Shio Butter Corn Ramen(combo’d with the gyudon),
