Genzui Ramen Bar

Having just come off of who knows how many hours of flying, and being a little lazy about going out in the rain to try to find dinner, I lucked into Genzui being just off the (in the?) lobby of my hotel. Sat down and was a bit overwhelmed with the menu, but too many choices is never bad.
Gyoza to start, then a cha-​su ramen. Gyoza were hot off the griddle. Porky and herbacious. The ramen was good, noodles had a good tooth to them, the pork was incredibly tasty, and the broth was rich and flavorful.
The menu said my soup had «lots of BBQ pork and veggies» Pork was definitely the star, with the only veggies being a handful of chopped nori and a solitary carrot. I suppose I could have ordered a veggie ramen if I really had been after veggies, right?
A good solid meal, service was fast and the price was right.

Ramen place with good varieties on menu… but it would be good to have pork soup base option… which is our favorite. And there is no egg in the Ramen or as an option to add. Overall I think the ones we tried is okay (miso butter corn ramen, wafu ramen), however the noodle texture is not our favorite…

Limited and poor selection of ramen, and no offer of extras like egg.
The gyoza were raw and staff were unhelpful when we asked for them to be further cooked.
Impossible to find, enter via Crown Plaza lobby on Albert St, but wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to find.

Real cheap, fast and tasty comfort food. Cautionary note — MAYYYYYYYYO overload on the salads.

Great food (and in large portions too!) and prices are very reasonable. If you are hungry and looking for some late chow (open later than most restaurants in the area – which is how we found this place), definitely stop by this place on the ground floor of Crowne Plaza in Auckland. Food tastes home-​made, and they are FAST too!
The cons: this is NOT a place for ambience… or if you are looking for an extensive menu or liquor list (hence only 4-​stars).
