We ordered our wedding cake from here. ABSOLUTELYDIVINE. I cannot rave about this place enough! 2 layers of chocolate whisky cake. 1 upper tier of Dolce Vita. I’ve ordered their cakes for special occasions over the years and never been disappointed. THANKYOU.

Rocket Kitchen are extremely well known for their ‘gourmet’ delectable cakes: «Chocolate Whiskey», «La Dole Vita», «Butterscotch Red Velvet», «Lemon Crème» and other gluten free options including Orange, Jaffa, Chocolate Almond; Plum & Orange — whao! Cakes start from $ 28(6 – 8 serves) up to $ 80(16 – 20 serves) so pretty reasonable! Rocket Kitchen also do vegetarian salads from $ 5 per salad, sandwiches & savoury treats. I recently tried the Chicken Gourmet Pizza Slice for $ 7.50, which is a mix of large chicken cube-pieces, cranberry sauce, spinach, cheese & red capsicum: Delicious. Oh, and a chocolate tea-size cupcake!!! Service was friendly. This shop is a ‘Ponsonby’ staple — been here for 19 years! Unilocal!!!

La Dolce Vita Cake: I’M DEAD I want to buy a bag of the icing they use and put it on everything But to be honest they are all glorious. I personally think the cakes are quite overpriced(approx $ 60 — $ 70 each?) but times have changed… cakes are expensey and if you are wanting to impress — the cakes here are so reliable and delicious that it’s worth the slight extra coins it may cost They also do deliveries which is handy if you are a corporate or want it delivered to someone’s door as a treat. These cakes definitely impress

Great little place to pick up a dessert and birthday cake. Try and call ahead if you have a special order. Checked out their website and they had a 48 hour pre order time frame, but when I called the lady told me I can pick up the next day which is awesome because I left it last min for a birthday. Must try the raspberry chocolate tart. But maybe go for the smaller one to try because is so rich. We had 8 people and ordered the 11 inch and we had like half left over.

Like everyone else, I bought a GrabOne voucher for a chocolate whiskey cake. It was outstanding; moist bit not sticky and rich but not sickly sweet.

Ordered a chocolate whiskey cake for a birthday having never tasted one before. Their online ordering and delivery service was extremely efficient and prompt. The chocolate shards were devoured immediately as it arrived! The cake itself was delicious! Moist and rich with the slightest drop of whiskey. Would definitely recommend this cake!

At least once every year for family birthdays we order one of Rocket Kitchen’s chocolate cakes. They are rich and moist and I am pretty sure they are a little bit boozy too, yum! At $ 50 for a 9 inch cake they are also really reasonable compared with other cake kitchens. It comes in a beautiful box and the icing on it is so glossy, you can either have it plain or pay $ 5 to have them write a personalized message on it for you in white chocolate. They don’t just do cakes here though, they are a full kitchen/deli with cabinets full of delicious things like club sammies, bagels, salads and quiches. It’s always busy in here around lunch time but it’s really convenient as you can just order and go. They also prepare hampers which look really great and they have a full range of gluten-free products so they really do cater to all.

Rocket Kitchen grabs you and pulls you in with sweet aromas that escape their small store on Ponsonby Road. The first time I came across this place was when I was looking for a cake for my mum for her birthday. My mum isn’t a huge cake fan but when it is your birthday you need cake, the candles have to go in something. I bought a lemon cake from here, it had cream cheese icing and my mum absolutely loved it. Everyone did. I myself don’t eat cake being vegan and what I did discover in the store amongst a vast range of sweet delights was their own brand of muesli. It is made with rice flakes and has a generous helping of fruits and nuts with a slight hint of vanilla. I absolutely love the stuff. This for breakfast with a little almond milk, a beautiful way to start the day. Rocket Kitchen caters too and if I ever had an event that needed to be catered, this would be the place I’d go to.

I’d probably go to Rocket Kitchen much more if my mother in law was not such a good baker. She bakes macaroons, birthday cakes and wedding cakes and if she wasn’t around we’d be paying Rocket Kitchen a visit for these things. If you want a good quality cake for a birthday or wedding, then this is probably the best place to come. I got a Chocolate whiskey cake for my birthday last year(as my mother in law was abroad) and it was divine — perfectly moist and rich. I understand the shop does savory stuff too such as sandwiches and also caters for weddings. If you are not much of baker and are looking for a nice cake for a special occasion, you should definitely check out their website.

Everyone needs to try Rocket Kitchen’s chocolate whiskey cake at least once(and then again, because you’ll love it). I consider this their signature cake, and, having had this amazing-tasting cake several times now, I can tell you it only gets better. However, the Rocket kitchen repertoire is impressive and they’ve got a lot of great options for everyone. From jaffa cakes to tortes, pies and cupcakes, its a one-stop treat shop for any occasion. While you can order online, the store itself is a visual worth seeing. Baking bits and bobs as well as cakes and the like are on display; they also sell sandwiches, chutneys and conserves– the list is almost endless. My grandfather’s three-tiered 70th birthday cake was from The Rocket Kitchen in 2008 and they did a wonderful job; my family has been raving ever since. I adore their chocolate whiskey cake with chocolate shards. I once ordered this for a friend and it went down a treat, not even photos could do that cake justice! Rocket Kitchen is a Ponsonby gem. Their staff are always super helpful over the phone and in person and they really know their stuff. You’re in good hands there so go on and treat yourself(or someone else).

Rocket Kitchen first opened in 1996 and has been a hit ever since. Their slogan is ‘food with attitude’, and it pretty much sums up the whole Rocket Kitchen experience. Their chocolate cakes are to die for, however everything they sell is mouth-wateringly scrummy. And beautiful. Though most well-known for their delectable cakes and sweet treats, Rocket Kitchen also make fresh salads and sandwiches, and now even sell lollies! Bonbons, rock candy and huge multi-coloured lollipops now line the counter and mean you really satisfy any craving at Rocket Kitchen. Tip: You can both order or buy Rocket Kitchen’s cakes, and they also offer a catering service and hampers which would make brilliant Christmas gifts for the in-laws.
