I just wore a Ruby dress to a wedding and I’ve never received so many compliments in my life. Yikes, I feel like I could audition for Tyra’s show haha. But seriously it fitted me so well and was such a statement dress without looking too crazy and out there. The girls are always SO helpful and one of the girls here even stayed open for me one time as I needed a dress fast but arrived at the unfortunate time of closing. They always bring out lovely classic pieces that will last forever. It’s the kind of thing that will be in my wardrobe for ages. I also love that they stock other designers such as Keepsake and Something Else. And their Ruby nail polish is to die for.

Oh Ruby, how I love you! One of my favourite designers(NZ or otherwise), I hate to think of how much money I’ve parted with in this store. After a self-intervention I now only visit if my wallet is looking healthy, even then it’s dangerous. I love the simplicity but uniqueness of the Ruby collections. The fabrics and prints always have an element of individualism about them. The items I’ve bought are simple style wise but fit so nicely. This means I get SO much wear out of my Ruby gear. If you look at wear per dollar ratio, Ruby would be sitting pretty nicely in my wardrobe. And you can’t argue with wear per dollar. These days it’s a treat, yes, but I still love wearing my treasured Ruby items.

I have a few Ruby pieces in my closet, which take pride of place over everything else in there. I guess my other clothing must feel pretty neglected sometimes, the way I take care of my Ruby stuff! No floordrobe for these items! My little sister originally put me onto this boutique, as she’s an edgy little hipster who has her clothes bought for her by my sucker of a mother, for those of us who actually have to save up and buy a ruby piece ourselves. It is worth every cent. The clothing is New Zealand made and is truly unique, you can be guaranteed that you won’t be looking like every other girl who shops at glassons, though now the secret has been let out of the bag there may be slightly more Ruby aficionado sightings around town!

Ruby is one of my favourite more recently established New Zealand brands. The collection is always consistently beautiful and unique, with fabrics such as silk and wool frequently dispersed throughout all the seasons. Ruby Newmarket stocks a range of other tasteful brands, including Tallulah and Cameo, and also Ruby’s recently emerged sister brand, Liam. You will also find Ruby’s footwear and jewellery lines stocked here too. All the shop attendants I have met at Ruby Newmarket have been quite helpful and chatty, always knowing quite a lot about the garments and making tasteful style recommendations. Although not cheap, Ruby is a classy alternative to the typical dark and black New Zealand design aesthetic you tend to see in some of the more established New Zealand designer stores.

I loooooovvvveee Ruby. I would love it even if it wasn’t Kiwi. It’s just straight-up one of my fave labels. I love it so much that I try stay clear of it, wait, whaaaattt? I mean because I don’t really have any money and I know that if I set foor in one of their stores I will fall in love with something and absolutely have to take it home. It’s feminine, but strong. Pretty and cool. It’s for full and part time fashionistas. And for people like me who are more like casual contractors. The clothes are really unique, both from other labels and within the ranges themselves. It’s not cheap, but I still wear things from Ruby that i’ve had for years, and not only are they in great condition, I still get compliments on them. I am not a huge wearer of colour, but Ruby always manages to charm me. Love it.
