I’m a girl who likes to do my own baking thank you very much; mainly because although I can appreciate the artistry of the sculpture/cakes available these days, underneath all that fondant I know I can make one that probably tastes better for A LOT less cash. I do however really like the idea of «sending» a cake because, well, everyone sends flowers don’t they? This is the place to do it and I’m happy to say it’s relatively inexpensive, with only the very largest size being over the $ 100 mark(excluding wedding cakes), and the 10 slice cake costing $ 25. It used to just be chocolate but now there’s a delicious range of other flavours as well including my favourite White Chocolate and the ever popular Red Velvet. Also in-store you’ll find a mouthwatering range of handmade chocolates that you can select by the individual piece. It’s a real secret gem this place and I love the whole idea of a boutique bakery — the smell in the shop is heavenly too so if you can, visit in person.

I am so glad my friend asked me to pick up her husband’s birthday cake to help out with her planning, because it meant I got to discover this specialty cake shop. Let’s talk about the cake they made for Monsieur Birthday Husband, first it was chocolate, but not just chocolate, it was the deliciously decadent variety and it was iced in chocolate ganache and decorated to a «T». Basically everything about this cake was outstanding, added to this was the packaging as it had to travel 3 hours down to the beach house and arrived in impeccable form. Mission accomplished and everyone at the party was fully satisfied with cake. If that’s not an endorsement I don’t know what is. I would choose«Send a Chocolate Cake» the next time I wanted to impress in the dessert department. These guys not only do the chocolate to perfection, they also have cheesecakes, banana, carrot, lemon, wedding cakes, cupcakes, kids cakes… and the list goes on. Order online, they deliver or you can pickup.

Whenever I get in trouble with my Mum — whether it be for crashing her car, filming my cat eating a bird or setting the kitchen on fire, Send A Chocolate Cake always comes in handy. The name of the business gives away what they do, but they do it very very well. You can ring up and order a cake and have it delivered the same day — and the cakes themselves are great. They also have a small retail store where you can go and buy individual cakes for a cheeky munch after walking up Big King. Or in between meals as you drive around, whatever is more«you.» I definitely recommend getting a cake here over a budget one from Countdown/New World
