This is one of the more expensive Indian restaurants and take-aways but you get a lot more flavour and quality in my opinion. Their rice is fluffy and tasty not bland and their butter chicken tastes authentic not like it has come from a butter chicken tap. When you eat in, all the meals come served in beautiful dishes e.g. Indian decorated silver bowls which I love as it adds another level of authenticness… is that a word? My favourite dishes from their menu are the butter chicken(of course), their mango chicken, their peshawari naan and the crowning glory their vegetable kofta curry, even if you are the most avid meat lover this dish will convince you that vegie dishes are delish please try it!

Very few Indian places deliver, particularly restaurants of this standard. I have had better experiences with takeaway food from this restaurant than dining in, although I would rarely do the latter so I am not complaining. I am a sucker for butter chicken and I find Shahi’s delicious, particularly with a garlic or cheesy naan — you can’t go wrong. The butter chicken is wonderfully creamy and full of flavour and this can be ordered with the naan bread for under $ 20. Another dish of note is the prawn malabari(I am a huge fan of coriander) and is tied into this dish nicely. Parking is very straightforward, across the intersection behind the shops on the opposite corner, or in any of the surrounding suburban streets.

For Indian takeaways night, we decided to risk trying somewhere different to our years-old favourite. Shahi had our usual order on their menu, so we gave it a go. The butter chicken seems like it is home made from scratch, rather than a premix — it has none of the artificial appearance and flavour that some other butter chickens have. Seems authentic! The cheese naan had regular cheese inside instead of paneer, which was not as delicious as I was expecting, but the naan bread itself was soft and fluffy. And added bonus — they didn’t twist the handles of the takeaway bag a million times like some annoying places do!
