I was there yesterday with my family and ordered satay chicken, deep fried fish, red curry and Pad Thai. Not so great for a fine dining restaurant apart from red curry. Really disappointed with PadThai as that is the one dish I usually like.

As I am a thai food fanatic, I kept passing by this place on my walkabouts downtown, but they were always closed. That’s when I found out that they only open during lunch(11a — 2p) and dinner(5:30p — late). I finally caught them open(a good tale-tell sign is if the fire column is on outside their door) and decided to stop in. There were a few groups inside for lunch, so that was a good sign. We were offered a seat anywhere we liked, so we sat and looked at the lunch specials. As an avid Unilocaler, I checked in and found that there was a 50% off coup for checking in. Once I showed this to the manager she got livid about it, threatening to sue, but let’s get to the dishes. I ordered the business lunch, which comprised of a skewer of chicken satay, mixed salad, and a tofu something or rather for the appetizer, which was decent. Afterwards, I had a chicken dish with very little vegetables, which was somewhat disappointing as I eat Thai a lot because of the amount of vegetables. It was decent thai food. I also came here for a take-away order. The place was deserted for dinner and no one was manning the hostess desk, so I wasn’t greeted at all. I had to walk in front of the owner who was surfing the web to get his attention. Even after that, he called the chef from the back(who was cleaning) to take my order and prepare it. While it is nearby, I would much rather walk farther to get better thai food and service.

I am actually eating a Duck red curry from here right at this very moment. It is pretty good! I have been here about three times, all because it was handy to work or to my dads apartment. I probably wouldn’t venture out of my way to get Thai from here, as I have had better BUT it is tasty. The restaurant is located just off Quay Street at the bottom of the Price Waterhouse Cooper building and definitely does have that feel of the place people go because it’s close to their work. When I went in, it was very quiet, but it was before 6, so you know. The girl at the desk was lovely and was patient as I made my decision on what to get. I then ordered and sat in the super comfy chair to wait. It really didn’t take long at all. The red duck curry is good, although not as tangy as I’d like and the duck is a bit tough. The tom Kha Goong soup I got is delicious. Both have a really good spice level. Good Thai at a handy location and at a moderate price. Sounds good!
