This is our local fish & chip shop, we live just around the corner but I would travel further, we get food here about once a month.
It’s no-​frills, nowhere to sit and eat, just a counter and a few chairs where you can wait for your order. If you want to make a picnic of it One Tree Hill Domain is a short walk and has plenty of tables and benches.
Most importantly The Chip Shop has great chips, good fish and excellent mushy peas. They also do the usual fritters, cans of drink, sauces etc. I haven’t tried the burgers.
I do recommend you call in advance to place your order as the wait can be 30 minutes or more on a busy evening.

Seriously good fish and chips; it says it at the front of the shop and they’re not wrong! We used to live just up the road so ‘The Chip Shop” was our local. They have won various awards over the years, and they certainly do a tasty chip. They are not stingy on the scoop size either. The fish is good (even if it’s a little on the pricey side) and the burgers are scrummo. It’s a friendly little shop, and is obviously is a local favourite. They do get busy so it pays to order first by phone, but they usually have a big stack of old mags to thumb through which I love.
