Great night there watching the Roosters clean the Bulldogs up. Hardcase crowd in the small as smokers section, party hardy atmosphere. Alright beers, but bourbon and coke… Don’t bother with it. We used to do the quiz nights there a couple of years ago, but too many phone cheating going on, and one staff member was giving answers to her mates. Hoping things have changed regarding that. Will be making some repeat visits again for sure!!!

Came out for a good pub meal. Received nacho’s that had half a pot of sour cream and about one tablespoon of mince. Partner ordered the steak which they forgot about and then proceeded to blame his«quiet voice», despite asking him how he would like it cooked when taking the orders. Would have been an ok experience but found the staff to be really rude and unprofessional and food to be kind of average

It has been renovated apparently. Does look good on the inside. But that’s as far as it goes. Menu online doesn’t match the menu when you get there. Extremely limited choice and in all honesty not great. My salmon was overdone to the point of being dry and tasteless and our table of 10 were underwhelmed. Pizza base for the kids was soft and doughy. Now what would have made it better was service. There simply was none. The waiting staff walk around looking pissed off with the world. Not once were we asked how the meal was or would we like another drink. Nothing. And believe me another drink would have gone a long way to helping wash the salmon down. All in all this place needs more than a renovation. It needs the full Gordon Ramsay make over of menu and staff.

The building is lovely and the food was really great. However the service, though friendly, was slow, sloppy and really disappointing. Given the high prices, they really need to work on the service.

The Kingslander definitely ain’t flashy but it’s not trying to be. It just is what it is — a lively neighbourhood pub complete with pools tables and a massive projector to watch the footy. On that note it can get pretty rowdy here when there is a sports match on, particularly if it’s rugby league, so if that’s not your vibe I recommend steering clear. I’ve also heard they have a pretty sweet quiz night every Tuesday night from 7pm!

Salsa classes every Wednesday for $ 10?! You had me at «$ 5 mojitos»(and they’re not half bad! Though it depends on whom you get to make the drink… some the ladies can be a bit stingy, or perhaps the guys are more generous?). The Kingslander is one of Kingslands main watering holes and pubs. Very casual place that attracts a mixture of the areas young social lights and men meeting up with the boys for a few and watch the game(don’t worry if it’s busy, they have ten tv’s smattered round the joint so you should be able to enjoy your sport without too much hassle).

Love this place! Went here with my friends after boot camp one night and(not at all sticking to diet) got the salt and pepper squid rings and a few drinks. We all had a really great chilled time sitting outside chatting and watching the weird Kingsland folk go by. The squid rings were amazing by the way, HIGHLY recommend them. Extremely cheap and really filling for some reason, I had to take the rest of mine home in a napkin because there was no way I was wasting those bad boys. This is the perfect bar to go to catch up with friends and have a casual drink on a Friday afternoon as the vibe was really relaxed and pleasant.

The Kingslander is the ultimate suburban sports bar located in the middle of the Kingsland shops. A five minute walk to Eden Park, whenever a game is on the Kingslander is absolutely pumping, thought this isn’t to say it is quiet on an average day. Far from it. Get your dancing shoes on and give the Kingslander’s mid week salsa classes a go! Great music, enthusiastic teacher and a whole lot of amateurs standing on each other’s toes — it’s a recipe for disaster and a whole lot of fun! Large TV screens have various sports running continuously and also mean the Kingslander is the perfect place for a guys night. Watch the game over a few pints and a plate of steaming hot chips. If the sport-watching gets a bit too intense girls head on upstairs to Nectar, an eclectic cosy bar with funky music and comfy lounge chairs and leave the macho talk to the boys!

This is probably the best pub in the funky neighbourhood of Kingsland. We came a while ago for a birthday and after our meal we ended up having a good laugh at the couples getting their groove on in the salsa dancing classes. As regards the food, they catered for vegetarians which was good for my life and brother-in-law. I got the fish and chips which was one of the more affordable main courses — some of the others ranged from $ 26-$ 28 which I thought was a bit pricey for pub grub. Having said the quality of the food was very good and there was no grumblings from our table. It’s a lively pub at night, especially on quiz and salsa nights. If you find it all a bit overwhelming there’s a cool little bar upstairs where you can chill out.

The Kingslander is the epitome of an Auckland pub that serves all sorts of demographics. Young people can had there with their mates for a drink on a Saturday night, blokes can go there to watch the rugby game or cricket match etc. It is a vast space with plenty of nooks and corners for a bit more privacy while you still remain surrounded by all the other patrons. The staff are friendly and the food is decent. It sits right in front of the train station stop too, before Eden Park, so a very handy location.

Pretty much the best thing about Kingsland is its namesake pub. The building looks very old, and the interior has a bit of a run-down feel about it, however, The Kingslander is very spacious inside and fills up quickly when there’s a big sporting event on the telly. This often means that the pub is occupied by a rowdy crowd at night, which creates a good atmosphere if you like that sort of thing. During the day it’s much more quiet, and a nice place to chill out and have a drink. It has one pool table in the corner(which doesn’t exactly fit), and a bit of a dance floor as well. They also have separate function rooms available for hire upstairs. They don’t have a great selection of tap beers and the prices, both for the drinks and the food, are pretty ordinary for an Auckland pub.
