Good we had a voucher, bcos I would never pay full price for the Crappy food.

I had mixed feelings when I purchased the Groupon voucher for this place. The reviews on Unilocal are mostly negative. But after I have eaten there, I feel that it deserves a positive review. It’s not the best café I have ever been to, but it’s definitely the best food I have had for 12 bucks per person including a coffee. The portion size is more than generous, the burger is huge even by my standards. The latte is strong. Service is also good. So how good is the food? I tell you what, I have bought one more voucher during my meal there today.

I had been here before when hungover and the big breakfasts were very good. Sadly it appears it has gone downhill somewhat. My partner and I went there with a grab one voucher. It appears lots of other people did as well. We waited 40 minutes for the food and nearly that for the coffees. People who came in after us got their food before us. And when we did get the food(chickpea fritter), it was tasty but quite dry. Never going there again, I have better places to spend my Sunday lunchtime. Better places with better service.

Roasted Addiqtion feels like a place that has done it’s dash — although all it needs is a dose of… something. to bring it back to it’s former glory. What that«something is» is beyond me, but they could make a start by ensuring their food comes out the same every time — not, as happened to a friend of mine, one week hard poached, the next week extremely runny whites. The area out the back is cool, you can feel like you are out the back of a big house party — although this can have it’s downsides when you want to order an extra drink and the servers don’t come down for half an hour. However, the service is great and the coffee is good, and it comes out quickly which is something I value quite highly. I would recommend going to Roasted for the coffee, but passing on the food — at least until they bring a bit of consistency to the kitchen.

I thought this place was a really nice, chilled out place with its orange retro interior and reggae music playing in the background. The staff were friendly and happy to spark up a bit of a chat. The Eggs Benedict that I ordered was average, but at $ 15 I thought it was sufficient; probably one of the cheaper cafes around. I have also had the iced mocha here, and fuck me sideways it is amazing. More chocolate than coffee, but really quite orgasmic. I would come back for the coffee here, and probably try a few things from the lunch menu. The half portion of food idea is clever, especially for you small eaters.

Roasted Addiqtion is a bit of a Auckland coffee institution, but it’s been a bit hit and miss lately with the food and staffing. I still pop in pretty regularly for a coffe, which is generally very good. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly. The staff are helpful, but at times a bit scattered. One aspect that let’s RA down is the food, which can be anywhere from delicious to below average depending on the day of the week. It’s certainly worth popping in for a coffee and breakfast — while you’re there do some recon on the the other food options to decide whether you’ll be back.

Descending into the Roasted Addiqtion patio area feels like being in someone’s backyard — it’s homely, it’s quiet and it’s chilled enough to pretty much doze off on a Sunday morning. Luckily for the sleepier patron, Roasted makes absolutely killer coffee and breakfasts to match. My pick for breakfast/brunch is the $ 17 hash stack — homemade rosti on toasted Sourdough with aioli & either bacon, avocado or smoked salmon. The folks at Roasted are also awesome enough to offer their breakfast/brunch mains as half portions for half the price — how thoughtful!
