its Monday night, all I can hear is sobbing. its the sobbing of the cardio machines at the gym, they know that after the Malthouse they will be punished as I attempt to work off the calories of this meal. So I’ve been dieting, which often precludes the ability to reach out and grab my keys to eat out, but on a whim we decided to try the Malthouse in Greenhithe. Let me be clear, if you want amazing culinary sophistication with tiny meals on larger-than-life plates, this is not the place for you. It combines a bar with some pretty impressive meals in the tradition of pub food. But this is not your average«throw it in the deep fryer»™ pub dining, this is good food, I mean really good food, with really good flavours and sized for a 6’6 man who has had nothing but grapes and celery all day. The décor is simple, a set of tables on the side for dining, some outdoor tables with sun umbrellas(looking lonely in the Winter) and a large bar with classic high tables on the other side, the service was great. we had the menu explained twice and our food was quick and nicely plated. My iPhone was not as quick as my stomach, which reached out and took control of my hands to eat, but I promise I’ll get a photo next time. Family atmosphere, great dining experience and at a good price.

The service was absolutely terrible to the point where I was chasing waiting persons around the restaurant asking where our drinks/food was. I shouldn’t need to do this. By the time the meals came out, an hour later than ordering, we were truly over it and just wanted to get out of it. Will not dine here again!!!

I’ve only been here once but it was a very memorable occasion. I came with a pretty large group of mates to watch some major rugby game. I have no idea what game it was and I couldn’t even tell you who was playing. I take it the All Blacks were going hard from what I can remember of the crowd but who knows. All I can vividly remember from this night was thinking what an amazing atmosphere this pub had. It was filled to the absolute brim. I seriously don’t think anyone else could have crammed inside. Manoeuvering your way to the bar or the bathroom was hard enough as it was. There was also a real mix of ages inside. At the time my friends and I must have only been about 18 and then there were of course the old 60-year-old locals going hard too. Everyone was in the best of spirits and no matter age or gender it was just a great vibe!

This cosy pub located in the upmarket semi rural neighborhood of Greenhithe, is perfect for a Sunday roast and some live acoustic music by some of our cities fantastic musicians. Summer time opens up the deck to outdoor covered seating on the deck or an option of a large spread wooden table in the sun. Surrounded by lovely leafy green trees provides shade and calmness to the exterior of the deck. In Winter I would still enjoy the deck however heaters would provide warmth for the outdoor session. Inside the Malt house, there is a large restaurant with a superb menu– highlights for me, the Gourmet Wood fired pizzas you couldn’t go wrong with Moroccan Lamb I can taste the minted yogurt as I type, and a fresh and tantalizing Beef Salad I enjoyed a summer back surprised me with its salsa flair. To match your meal with a drink you have more than enough to choose from. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Has a family feel to it, and settles one in for a few hours to chill.
