The Mediterranean

In a word PERFECT.
What you want in a restaurant is great food, The Mediterranean fails with this, it has AMAZING food. (both fish and meat were incredible) The cherry on the top is great, polite, knowledgable service (approach you when you want assistance), spacious layout (you have enough room to both talk and move) and great character (feel like you have stepped away from Auckland and into somewhere exotic). Would be perfect for both a group or a couple.
I never go to the same restaurant twice but this place may change my mind.

Great find in the Birkenhead/​Chatswood neighborhood situated off the busy Birkenhead township is this exotic entertaining Mediterranean wonder.
The intimate restaurant has lots of character to it, which I think comes from the creative and vivacious personalities of the owners Eduardo and Adrienne.
I had dinner with a group of about 15 one evening, and we shared the tantalizing Anti Pasti platter and Mezze plate, layered with olives, fresh warm flat bread, a variety of cheese, and spreads– I could have sat there all night sipping red wine and snacking away.
The main, I decided on was of course another share of the Calamari Squid Rings and the Moroccan Lamb Pizza– topped with olives, artichokes, feta and dukkah.
Although quite a load of food, sharing it made it easier to just pick through and enjoy company, wine and food all in one.
After the meal, I sat outside next to beautiful palm trees on comfortable lounge seats and sipped on a perfect glass of Merlot.
I truly experienced, the hospitality and food of another culture, and didn’t step foot off Aotearoa.
