Cardrona Speights Ale House is just down the road from where we play social soccer during the week so we occasionally head there afterwards for a beer.
Jugs are priced averagely (in the mid $ 20 price range), as they are in most places in Auckland — apart from bowling clubs and RSAs. There is a decent deck with multiple picnic tables, which is ideal for our team gathering after the match.
It is in a relatively dull area and is predominantly used for events such as 21sts and after work drinks, particularly being located in a small commercial area. It is ideal for parties with its large areas, both indoor and out, plenty of seating, and the long bar.

This place is exactly why I still have faith in pub food or meals. The portions are huge and filling, perfect for when you are sitting there enjoying a game of rugby with a beer. The meals are so appealing, and the smell of the delicious food just casually roams around in the air that if one breathes in too deeply they will find themselves ordering.
The first time I went to Cardrona I had a vodka and red bull as my beverage and for the food I had the Eden Tram-​Loop Roast Chicken. The main meal was $ 32 well spent as it was spiced with herbs and a delicious gravy. The atmosphere of the bar was fun, we were watching a basketball match and it was the perfect place to do so. Nobody judged me and my boyfriend when we high-​fived each other when our team scored. A great place to watch a sports game and have a hefty delicious meal.
