Important update: I’ve been back twice, and was able to get the dry fried green beans vegetarian style. I must say, they are AMAZING! So much so that my non-vegetarian friend dreamt about them during her whole visit to NZ, and we «had» to make another trip They put in little bits of fried tofu instead of pork. Delicious. Don’t miss it, vegetarian friends!

This place has some of the best dumplings in Sandringham. Each time I have been though, there has been such a long wait — even with take out. I definitely recommend the food but be prepared for it to take its time to me cooked. The soup dumplings are a must and their spring onion pancake is really good, especially if you get another dish with a gravy.

The dumplings are great but we have had several disasters with phone orders where there has been a language misunderstanding. Better to eat in.

Really nice food. Prices are all really good as well and the dishes will leave you feeling full and in a food coma. Great atmosphere and service as well!

Recently, we had a full-blown dumpling partaaay at Tianze, which really isn’t that challenging considering one order is 20 dumplings(!!!). What is surprising though is how many dumplings you can eat when you really put your mind to it. Our team of 5 managed to go through almost sixty PLUS their spring onion pancake(a must-order), green beans w pork mince, salt & pepper squid and this delicious eggplant situation served with lots of fresh herbs and egg. We also had a couple of beersies to wash it all down. Our total for all that? $ 24.50 each! HIGHLY recommend this spot. It’s may not have much going for it in the looks department but it’s clean and tidy and you can order a delicious feast, including drinks for less than $ 25!

This place is a great ‘cheap eats’ joint! The food speaks for itself. Rebekah M. recommended this place and as she knew the menu, we put her in charge of ordering. Everything she recommended was delicious! So here’s the rundown: DUMPLINGS The pork and fennel dumplings were juicy little taste explosions. They worked really well steamed but I’m wondering if they might taste better, fried??? As for the egg and mushroom dumplings; interesting flavours and definitely worth having them fried. Actually, I don’t think you can have them steamed??? I’m keen to go back and try the spicy beef dumplings! VEG The fried beans with pork… now if that doesn’t make you want to eat your greens, then nothing will! I couldn’t stop eating these beauties!!! Braised eggplant with egg and the works — I was too stuffed to taste it, but judging by the reaction of the rest of the Unilocalers at the table, it’s worth ordering. We also had the salt and pepper squid with egg yolk dust — AMAZING! Put some of this stuff on a 45 dollar platter and you won’t hear me moan about how bland the squid was! We washed it all down with a few swigs of beer and paid just $ 24.50 each! Definitely going back for more!

Dined here a couple of nights ago with my family of six. Lovely food but the place was so hot and stuffy that we felt very uncomfortable throughout the two hours we were there. It has no proper air conditioning whatsoever; only a small revolving desk fan on the counter. Also the service here was pretty bad here… no water or Chinese tea was brought to our table till we had asked for it. The toilet was also bloody awful… literately just like a dirty small cupboard space! Their standout dishes was the salted egg dusted prawns and the eggplant in rich gravy dish. Their pork and chives dumplings were also very nice and good valued. But we couldn’t leave the place fast enough… it was so uncomfortable and hot inside!!!

After a few really disappointing experiences at Barilla, I was unsure if I would find another local dumpling place that would be a great replacement. Enter Tianze Dumpling House! Dumplings are delicious and offer a good range of variety(gotta love the Pork & Fennel)! I dream about their egg yolk dusted fried prawns and I’ve hear the Kung Pao chicken is pretty stellar too. Staff is pretty friendly with good quick service. But the BEST part is that they are licensed and offer $ 7 Tsingtao Beers for the 600ml size bottle quick possibly being the cheapest beer in Auckland! A lot of locals take advantage of their takeaway menu as well. *Update* I’ve been countless times since writing this review and gets better everytime! A well deserved 5 stars!
