This place has a lot of potential but just misses the mark because it’s let down by lousy staff. It has a lot of street appeal, seems to have good bar stocks and has a great deck which faces north so it gets the afternoon sun. We visited on a weekend afternoon recently for lunch. We stood at the bar, were handed menus by a young serving wench and after a few minutes of deliberations made our selections, only to be told that our choices were unavailable. Duh! Then we asked for some water for our table and were directed to an empty water jug on the counter, which the serving wench said she would fill. Ten minutes later the jug was still empty, and where was the wench? Sitting outside in the sun eating her lunch and flirting with a bloke! The food we did end up having was delicious pizzas, really thin-crusted ones with tasty toppings and fries that were apparently cooked off the premises somewhere down the road. Weird. I would come back here but probably only as a second or third choice and only for the food, cos the service was b-a-d.

Think of all the things that make a neighbourhood bar a great local — that’s pretty much sums up Tiny Triumphs… good beer on tap(Sawmill from Leigh), creative & reasonably priced cocktails, unpretentious staff, simple but tasty snacks(wood-fired pizzas), and a bloody good deck! In the weekends they also have live music too. If only I lived in Devonport…

I lived in NZ from 2007 to 2010 and didn’t find a single place that mixed a decent cocktail. After a while, I just concluded it was a beer & wine culture. I came back for a visit in February of 2014 and luckily happened upon Tiny Triumphs after an afternoon of hiking around Rangitoto. What a great little place! It really is tiny, but the drinks are really good and the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. I highly recommend the place to anyone looking for the perfect balance between hip and casual.

Haven’t spent much time in Devonport, but was willing to cross the bridge to try it out for myself after hearing great things. I was immediately impressed by the amount of afternoon sunlight pouring into the place, which was perfectly complemented by a refreshing and novel twist on the classic gin and tonic. Overall, this was ideal for a relaxing and sophisticated afternoon drink.

This place isn’t just a bar, it is also a cool café! Sunday brunch here did very nice, especially as the warm sun eased it’s way over the deck that held our soft armchairs that we were nestled on over the gorgeous floor rugs strewn about. The only downfall was the lack of espresso coffee — however the bartender actually said we can order it from next door and he would bring it over to us — now that is good customer service! My crew and I had the vego breakfast with eggs, eggs benedict and some artisan bread with dips. Am happy to report that they also sell Tommy and James ice cream and karma cola drinks(organic). Would have got five stars if they had that espresso machine. P. S. Comic book/retro mag pics are from the girl’s(maybe men’s too) bathroom’s, collaged over the walls, worth a toilet stop to check the cool array out if nothing else!

I live in Devonport and it’s always nice to have a great little local. Set in central Devo right next to the Stone Oven(a bustling a café and a bit of an institution that’s been around for yonks). Tiny Triumphs had a nice low key atmosphere with sun flooding onto the deck in the afternoons. I had some pizza and a cocktail both of which were nice —(not outstanding but really enjoyable). It’s a great spot if you are going out for dinner or a movie up the road to have a casual drink at beforehand.

If you live in Devonport, Tiny Triumphs should be your new local hangout. As the name promises, it’s tiny. So, it’s best for a beautiful day when you can take advantage of the lovely porch. The ambiance is like an auckland villa porch with lovely rugs and vintage furniture. Cozy place with friendly faces and nice nibbles. They do NZ beers(saw mill), cocktails, and have some nice organic soda options for the teetotalers. Nice addition to the neighborhood, and a little hard to find — tucked in next to the stone bakery. Totally worth it!

What a gorgeous spot for a drink in the heart of Devonport! As I am not a local, «Tiny Triumphs» was an unknown bar to me — until now. The bar is unassuming and set back from the street. Great seating outside, either bar stools around small and/or communal table, or comfortable European-style chairs: Al fresco drinking in style! They have beers on tap(not sure what as not a beer drinker), great cocktails, wine list or chilled water for teetotallers:) Fab service too. Not a lot of room inside by the bar, so you can network, while ordering your drink!
