as exploring around Victoria Park Markets in downtown Auckland this afternoon and stumbled across a brilliant new little Vietnamese restaurant called Viet Flames. The service was excellent and the food had all expected Vietnamese classics and a few surprises! Pictured below are braised pork and prawn summer rolls, shaking beef and a pork mince stuffed portobello mushroom. The beef was cooked to perfection and the summer rolls were simple and fresh. Highly recommend!

We ordered six shared platters for six of us. Each shared platter cost around $ 28 each. As per Kelly W. review comments below, most of the dishes, particularly the red meat dishes, missed the mark in terms of flavor and deliciousness. And the duck dish was very fatty although it was explained to us that the quality of the ingredients in the shared platters was higher than the other dishes on the menu. Strange thing to say to customers. All ingredients should be sold as top quality. Also thought the portion sizes were very small. We won’t be back.

Went here on a groupon voucher, after being taken here one time prior by my parents. The service is friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. The flavours in some of the dishes, particularly for me the vietnamese curry, are something you find rarely. The restaurant has nice décor but unfortunately always seems quite quiet and I’m not sure they are going to be able to survive given how quiet Vic Park still is despite the re: do. I would recommend getting down here for a nice meal in friendly surrounds. As a bonus, the wine list is pretty good but they also have $ 5 wine and beer specials at the moment.

We were craving vietnamese food and couldn’t go too far from work so this was it. I would not recommend this place at all. The waitress was clueless and totally oblivious to what the restaurant had to offer and vietnamese food in general. The food lacked flavour entirely and the portions were terrible. The phở was tiny and the bun cha was just overloaded in dry pork meat. Definitely not authentic and definitely not coming back.

I went here in search of a good banh mi, and they really delivered! The ingredients tasted very fresh, and the food was immaculately presented. The waiter was attentive, and the food came out very quickly. We also ordered a plate of the crab and pork spring rolls to share — they were delicious. I think I’ve found my new go-to Asian restaurant for lunch!
