Had a great night here as part of Auckland Restaurant Month. The restaurant décor and atmosphere was great. The food was very authentic and tasted great. Good level of spice. The wait staff were very friendly and happy to go out of their way for our groups requests. Only thing that could be improved upon would be waiter training in serving drinks. They spilt a lot of our drinks and looked quite unprofessional. Other than that I highly recommend.

I’m going to put it out there — this might just be the best Indian i’ve had in Auckland! Deliciously tender tandoori chicken, complex curries packed full of flavour(we particularly loved their prawn malabari cooked in coconut cream), soft naan slathered in oil and garlic and coconut rice that wasn’t overpowering but incredibly moreish. The women who served us(and who seemed to be running the show) was also brilliant. She helped us decide what to order from the extensive and somewhat intimidating menu so that we got a good mix of flavours and she absolutely nailed it. She even offered to give us half serves we when couldn’t decide between two curries — what a gem! The only negative about this place is the atmosphere. I find Victoria Park in itself to be bit lacklustre and in Ivillage the high ceilings and large dining don’t do much to combat this. Regardless, the food so that good that I would happily return again and again!

A great treat to be taken to dinner at iVillage by a friend, who is reputed to be a serious master of the curry himself. I left ordering to him and the recommendations of the restaurant’s gracious hostess. We started sharing a trio of chicken which was served in a smoking pot. Each of the three different flavours were delicious and tender, served with a coriander sauce. Next a dry lamb curry, prawn curry with coconut milk, coconut rice and wholemeal roti. My friend ordered fresh chillies on the side as I am a complete wimp and had asked for mild to medium. The prawn curry with lots of prawns and an aromatic and smooth sauce contrasted nicely with the drier and slightly spicier lamb curry. Definitely a great place to try again — apparently you can sit at the bar and watch the tandoor in action. Sounds like a plan. The restaurant has a road frontage but also a nice entrance and seating area on the inside of Victoria market making it a good outlook

First time at ivillage. First impressions… Great service and wine list. Very reasonable prices. Good explanation of menu and recommendations from the staff. Went with those. The entrée’s of Indo-Chinese Bullets(vegetarian) and dipping sauce along with the Tandoori Trio(from the bar menu) were stunning. Followed up with mains of Handi Chicken and the special of Balti Goat. Both stunning and the goat was super tender. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
