I don’t know why this restaurant only has 3 stars, the food was amazing, service was great and very helpful, and the ambiance was nice. A small little authentic Indian restaurant that I would definitely come back too. I’ve been to many many Indian restaurants, and the flavors here were on point. Also accommodating if you are a vegan. While we were dining here, everyone else in the restaurant was Indian, so I think that proves a point that it is good Indian food. They also have wifi which is a plus.

A fantastic curry house in the heart of the city and great value for lunch — you get curry(choice of 5), naan, poppadom, rice and a drink for $ 12. Make that an alcoholic drink and it costs only $ 16. Of course they have a full menu for lunch if you fancy something more than they offer on this set menu. I chose good old butter chicken and I got a generous portion with great flavour given I asked for medium heat. The poppadom was the yummiest I have had — not plain and boring. The service was fast and friendly. The ambience was good, the place busy and the décor fine. I will be back soon given its right across from my work.

The young lady who helped us was very nice and I would give the customer service 4 stars easy! The restaurant was small inside but well decorated and I liked the music as well… it had me dancing in my seat a bit. For décor and ambiance I give 3 stars. We got our order for take away and left hopeful, but if I am being honest, the food was terrible, I can only give 2 stars over all. We ordered lamb seehk kabob, the madras lamb meal and a side order of two different types of naan and extra basmati rice. I asked for the food mild but understand that with Indian, that doesn’t always happen, however the flavors just were not good. The curry was strong and unappetizing and there was a fishy smell/flavor to some of the food that was puzzling and a bit disgusting. The only thing we finished was the naan and even that was hard as I was biting into large pieces of garlic. I will not be back.

Chawlas 2(I believe it’s a chain?) is a 5-minute walk from my house, so I thought I’d better give it a go. I phoned ahead for takeaway, and was given a very reasonable 15-minute waiting time — when I turned up 15 minutes later, the food was ready and waiting. The staff are lovely — friendly and happy to help. The interior of the restaurant proper is small and has obviously been decorated on a bit of a budget, but I always enjoy a place where casual is the catchword. I ordered chicken Sagwaala and a garlic naan. The naan was lovely — crisp and beautifully seasoned. The main was very tasty — nice cuts of meat(I’m always fussy about my fowl) — although the ratio of chicken-to-sauce was a bit meagre. Curries average $ 14 – 16, and I’d maybe want a bit more meat for my money. BUT overall a tasty, pleasant and speedy experience. I will be going back to Chawla’s 2!
