Nice coffee shop run by very friendly staff. Place is a bit tiny so it can be a squeeze when crowded. The coffee here is pretty decent, however I find it a bit too hot to drink straight after purchase for take away.

Cheese scones! They are very good here so you need to get here early to make sure you can get one. That’s all you really need to know. OK, here’s some other things you might want to know: this café is owned by the same people who run Reslau, just around the corner, and Rushworth down at Wynyard, so if you’re familiar with those places, the food and drink will be familiar to you. There’s plates full of tasty baked goods and the sandwiches here are fresh, and tasty and made up in thoughtful combinations. It’s just a small little café, so there’s only a few places to sit inside, but you can sit out in the entrance to the Elliot Street Apartments. You’ll often see people here having little business meetings over a couple of coffees.

This small café is situated on Wellesley street, adjoining Elliot Stables. As soon as you walk in to this café you are greeted warmly by the staff. I was holding my phone and they immediately filled me in on the wifi password. Talk about onto it! There looked to be some very nice food in the cabinet, with some lunch options for around $ 6. I just ordered a coffee and a biscuit. My flat white was made promptly and it was a great coffe(even on a par with Wellington coffee I think). The berry shortbread had tempted me at the counter and I found it to be an interesting texture, but it can’t have been that bad because I did eat it all! Newspapers were provided and I enjoyed reading this, while I drank my coffee. I am definitely keen to visit this café again to perhaps have something more substantial or I hear the date scones are particularly tasty.
