I am a bit torn between deciding a 4 star or a 3 star rating. This place is located in the Elliot Stables complex. Its like a food court. Lots of cool café, restaurants here. Open for an extended hour. Compare to other places, Resalu doesn’t stand out that much. Seating– plenty in the courtyard but little in the café Coffee– Allpress coffee. Acceptable. Service– friendly in general. price– average Others– free Wifi form Elliot Stables, but you only get it for 30 min or 50mb data. I am going to have to continue my quest for a all day hangout place in Auckland.

It’s cafes like Reslau that make me miss working in the city. This morning was absolutely FREEZING and it was like stepping in a warm cocoon as I stepped through the door into Reslau. I was warmly greeted, viciously tempted by the delicious looking baked goods on offer and then my coffee was ready super quick! There are sweet little tables perfect for a quick morning catch up, and on a previous occasion they even had mulled wine in the evening. Love this spot!

I like Reslau. Something about their little nook in Elliot Stables is charming and welcoming. And with its prime location to my office, I find that(far too often!) my colleagues and I will exchange glances right around morning tea time. We’re all on the same page, clearly. Although I don’t consider myself a «coffee drinker,» I have fallen for Reslau’s talent in the espresso department. They serve Allpress — and there’s never a bitter aftertaste(I usually go with the half strength flat white because I’m a wuss and can’t handle extra strong espresso). The baristas are lovely as well — and although they always seem to be under the gun, they never manage to slip up in delivery of a perfect brew :) Reslau also carries a wide variety of freshly baked goods(my colleagues RAVE about their almond croissants and chocolate afghans [I’ve been trying to be good]). Tip: the space(corridor?) is rather tiny which could induce bouts of claustrophobia during peak times. You’ve been warned.

It’s hard to remember what a café desert it was around the mid-city area before Reslau opened: since then, a few more places have opened, but before them pretty much your only option was a ghastly chain place if you wanted to just hang out in a café for a while. So for saving us from that, I’ll have a fond feeling towards Reslau. Luckily, they also receive my fondness because it’s a genuinely pleasant place to go to. The service is great, always very helpful and friendly, and they never seem to mind if you’re the indecisive type like me and spend way to long making your mind up. They have a liquor licence, so if you eschew coffee, you can just go straight for a wine. They also have a cake trolley laden with delicious things to have with your coffee/tea/wine: I especially recommend the gingerbread, which is always a winner and never seems to last long on anyone’s plate.

This is a great café for when you need a little hideaway possie in the city. It’s a skinny little abode that houses good coffee and small selection of food to keep you in that abode for as long as necessary. The staff are always lovely but almost have a mutual understanding that I’m there for some much needed introvert time and leave me be once I’ve ordered. I then plonk myself by the window and people watch the afternoon away. Its tiny size means it’s not really good for a business meeting, that is unless you want to include thw whole café in your brainstorm, but it is a nice place for when your alone. It’s one of the only good cafes in town(in my opinion) and is good for a takeaway coffee, lazy brunch, a quiet place to sit, or just for when you need somewhere to kill the time.
