Ok, everything about this place was great: staff was funny and engaging. The food was delicious. The dishes were well prepared and looked great. … but the value. It was super expensive for what it was. I’ve been here once, and really feel no need to go back. I found places that were less upper-scale with the same quality food.

Not as good as it used to be. Sirloin was a little tough. Seafood platter was a little disappointing. Small portion. Mussels were still bearded. No oysters. A bit expensive for what you get.

We haven’t been here in years and I’m glad the food is still spectacular if not perfect. Ordered the filet Mignon medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Mouth watering! We went on a Tuesday night so it was busy. Staff were friendly as well but the seats were abit uncomfortable. Cushions are abit old so maybe time for furniture upgrade.

My rating for Tony’s Steak House is based on their Special $ 10 lunch menu. A typical English pub that’s been around for 50 years. My group of work colleagues were here after our team meeting for lunch and we were offered the $ 10 specials. Pea Risotto, Calamari, Beef Burger or Rump Steak. All came with fries and a side salad. My steak was cooked beautifully and had only a tiny bit of fat on end but no gristle. It came with a pretty and nicely dressed side salad and good fries. I also ordered a side of mushroom sauce which appeared not to be from a can as it was chunky and tasted like sherry which I really enjoyed. My other colleagues said there meals including a seafood chowder were good. Although the risotto a little watery. I think it was great value for money.

Well from outside it looks like a shady restaurant, but as soon as you enter it is pretty huge with a full steakhouse atmosphere. They have a very good deal at lunch for 10 dollars steak and fries, and at night a complete menu. The steaks are very tasty but the sides are very common and will be worth changing. Slightly pricey, but not overpriced

Had the lamb salad today for lunch. Perfectly cooked chunks of lamb in a tasty salad mix. These guys know food! Now, for dinner, I am going for the lamb filets. I know I will not be disappointed.

Still as good as ever, the most refreshing thing about Tony’s is you know what to expect — good honest value for money steak and seafood Have been coming here on and off for years and every time I walk away content and happy. Generous portions and sides included, a friendly relaxed atmosphere — great way to kick off a night in town or to grab a bite before heading home

This is the original Tony’s and not a licensee as you will find in other locations in Auckland. This is a place to go to each meat. New Zealand beef is unlike what is generally available in the U.S. Because it is grass fed, it is leaner and looks redder. You almost wonder whether it will measure up. However, it is deliciously flavorful and surprisingly tender. This restaurant does a good job with their meat. I recommend one of their filets over the scotch steak(rib eye). Prices are very reasonable for the quality. Nothing fancy about this restaurant(no tablecloth). Service was adequate.

Tony’s is resolutely anti-fashion: it’s been around since 1963 and for nostalgia lovers, the décor hasn’t changed much since then. There’s a lot of brown, both on the walls and on your plate, what with all the meat. This makes it very comfortable and warm and pretty rad. Tony’s is a steak and seafood restaurant, and what you see is what you get: big plates of steak, with different cuts cooked in a variety of ways with various sauces, or plates of fresh fish and seafood, prepared simply. It’s probably not going to win any cusine awards any time soon but it’s good old fashioned comfort food cooked well. If you don’t eat much meat, there’s not a huge amount of choice, but the waiters are all pretty friendly and happy to help so don’t be scared of asking them to see what they can recommend. They’re also pretty used to serving people on their way to see shows so also don’t be afraid to say you’ve got a time limit — we once went in there before a film and managed to have dinner finished within 30mins, which was impressive, if not great for the digestive system.

Tony’s restaurant is located in the handy city central spot which makes it a great place to meet up with friends or family if you’re like me and live at the opposite ends of Auckland from most friends. On this occasion I ordered the chicken breast which I had with mashed potato and salad. A simple dish but it was good. Not great, but good. The chicken was a tiny bit too dry. My grandfather ordered the fish of the day and stated that it was«too stringy» whatever that means but he also has high standards for restaurants. The restaurant itself is great, it is very old fashioned pub-like/steakhouse(surprisingly as that what it is) with wooden walls and brick walls. Makes you feel like you are in an episode of Coronation Street but without those hearty accents. 3⁄5
