Went in with high hopes; left feeling pretty shitty. 1) We arrived well before 9. Vino Vino advertises that they close at 1am. So, why after being seated were we told that the kitchen is closing and we must order ASAP? We were expected to review the menu and choose our order with the waitress standing there. 2) The water tasted metallic; like blood. It was not drinkable. 3) So, we ordered cocktails. I ordered a Long Island and they have me a Black Russian. I had to send it back. My partner ordered a mango daiquiri. It was tasty, but very weak. When I eventually got my Long Island it was pure Coke and lemon juice. No alcohol whatsoever. 4) We had ordered an entrée and two mains. Our mains showed up but not our entrée. Obviously the kitchen was now closed, so we could no longer get it. 5) We both ordered steaks. Food was mediocre. The $ 109 we spent on this«romantic» meal was a waste. We should have gone to The Oyster Inn instead.

Our final night on this visit, it had to be here with stunning views over the sea. I had the chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese and bacon, and my wife had the daily special of fish. We did not have to wait log for our meals, the portions were a good size and quite tasty. The service was very good, the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes on offer, they also check to make sure we were enjoying our meal and if we required anything else. Overall a very good choice, the prices were a little expensive, but the views were worth it and so was the quality of the food.

The view over the beach was stunning, make sure you book a table on the balcony. Great affordable food such as steak sandwich to soak up all that wine from the wine tasting at various vineyards.

Very laid back and easy to get lost in time. Food selection is good and wine selection is better. Lots of local choices with seafood being very fresh. Excellent chill out place.

The view of Orenoa Beach is 5 stars but the food is somewhere between a 2 – 3. We got the Mediterranean platter(hummus, falafel, bread, and various other dips). The falafel was too burnt. The dips were ok. Feels like there was little effort in making this dish. The fruit that came with the platter were not fresh, which is hard to find in NZ.

Aaah after a long time of indecisiveness due to the lack of dinner options at Oneroa we settled on Vino Vino. I’d highly recommend the chargrilled platter($ 52) for its value. It’s recommended as a main course for 2 or nibbles for 3. You get ribs, chicken nibbles, bread, chorizo and calamari which actually filled up me and my parents. Which I wish we had anticipated because we ordered two other starters: prawns and scallops, just in case we didn’t have enough. And the prawns and scallops weren’t that amazing. Or that we were just too full from the platter. The view from here is great. They over-emphasize«best sea view» in their advertising on the main street, which may be, but there are few tables that really give you a great open view.(We sat inside at a table near the outdoor deck.) Service overall was okay, they seem to hire a lot of international staff, maybe due to its touristy clientelle, and their English was… communicable.

5 stars for the view 4 stars for the service 3 stars for the food The food’s not really the lure here: it’s the atmosphere. And by «atmosphere» I mean the views are absolutely stellar. My recommendation to you: gather some friends, share a platter, sip on a local brew/“vino” and while away the day gazing across the endless blue sea and(if you’re lucky!) the rugged Coromandel coast. Sidenote: the fact that they let my friend hijack their music so we could salsa together on the deck adds some huge bonus points. God, I love Waiheke.

Like most places with a good location, you’re not coming here for the restaurant itself — you’re coming here for the view. Which is good because the view is excellent. The restaurant is … fine. Not bad in any way, but also not amazing. Pick the whole place up and plonk it down somewhere without a beautiful view of a bay, and the place would be kind of forgettable. The food was fine, the prices were reasonable, the service was really pretty good, but all of it pales in comparison to the ability to sit on a shady deck and look out over Oneroa, the sun glinting off the waves, the boats bobbing in unison, the blue of the ocean merging into the blue of the sky at the horizon. That’s what you go for. The restaurant is just a convenient receptacle for it.

Great place to sit on the breezy covered deck with a view of the ocean, sipping on a glass of local pinot gris and lunching with friends the day after a wedding. It’s a busy place and we were there with a large group so our meals didn’t all come at once but that’s to be expected and it was fine. With a glass of wine in hand and while enjoying a summer’s day how can you complain? Maybe it was just the fair weather and the fact that I was one of the few who wasn’t madly hungover. The major downside was the minimal vegetarian options on the menu, though the marinated mushrooms and salad were pretty darn tasty. The service was okay, just fine, but I would have expected something a bit more exceptional for a place that hosts wedding functions in such a prime location.

This is the place that lured us to lunch on a breezy summer Thursday whilst exploring Waiheke Island for the first time; why this place? It wasn’t so crowded and pricing was fair. I ate a scrumptious chicken pie and although it didn’t look very big on the plate, it did fill me up nicely. The restaurant soon filled with people after we had sat down, mostly middle aged women with their friends it appeared. Although the place ended up being quite busy, which we were trying to avoid, it was ok, we could still talk and hear each other and didn’t feel pressured to «be on our way» even after we had finished. I am quite happy with our choice…
