This is pretty much my go-to takeaway in the neighborhood. Friendly, you can order online, serves food until 10PM and there are an endless number of vegetarian options. Score! I’ve been trying everything, and so far my favorite is the Beef and Ginger done vegetarian — nice big pieces of ginger, delicious noodles, lots of fresh veggies! Closely following is the thai soup done vegetarian with tofu — its nice and spicy, lots of tofu and veggies with noodles. A great soup when you feel a cold coming on. They have some interesting paleo options, and can do anything lo carb(less noodles or rice, more veggies)… basically you can’t go wrong, everything I’ve tried here is a win. Eating in is great too and they have beer and coffee available. The owner is super nice and gregarious — you’ll see his mug on the wall of the restaurant, can’t miss him! He’s proclaimed the restaurant Auckland’s Number 1 Asian Restaurant — that’s a tall order, but he dreams big!

Wok’n Noodles has two locations in Auckland, one in Mt Eden and one in the CBD on Shortland street. I tried Wok’n Noodles on recommendation from my co-workers. Most of their rice and noodle dishes and curries are around $ 13/$ 15 and the portions are generous. A light eater can easily make 2 meals out of it. I have never eaten in but everytime the food arrived fairly quickly. They even have online ordering on their website… bonus! But note that one cannot change the pick up time, food will be ready 15 minutes after the order has been placed. Their menu is varied and has a great selection of popular Asian dishes and caters for gluten free and paleo diets(and more, I’m sure! when ordering on the website one can make special requests such as no onion or more chilli sauce). Today I had a Vermicelli Beef salad and it was delicious! the dressing had a decen amount of crushed peanuts and was tangy and sweet, and the beef was not chewy or fatty. A great option for an Asian lunch in the CBD!
