Base Woodfired Pizza

Delicious pizza! The perfect blend between simple flavors and unique pizza combinations. I tried both the Moroccan Lamb and the Sir George pizzas. Absolutely fantastic. Portion size isn’t huge, I’d say get a pizza per person. And for New Zealand pizza, it’s got good prices. Overall, I’m a fan of Base.

Base Woodfired Pizza, undoubtedly serves the best pizzas in town! Located in the re-​start mall, this is one of the many other restaurants, cafes, shops, food trucks located here. Really cool place to walk around by the way.
They carry a limited variety of pizzas and I really wanted to get the butter chicken pizza. Unfortunately they sold out of butter chicken pizzas that day and I ended up getting a large order of Moroccan lamb pizza. We were initially a bit skeptical because the menu board mentioned that they add yogurt sauce and mango chutney on top of the pizzas. But ordered it nevertheless and took a seat outside waiting until our token number was called.
Within a few minutes, our token number was called out and the pizza was served.
Oh my, this was way too good. The crust was thin and crispy, just the way I love it. The thin lamb slices were marinated an cooked well. The yogurt sauce and mango chutney which we were quite skeptical about worked out so well. And the arugula on top — yumm.
Two of us split the large pizza and it was perfect! Love this little find. Thanks to Unilocal

I have been exploring food joints in the city lately and I found this place really good. They have some of the best pizzas in town and every food lover out there should try.
My personal recommendations are butter chicken pizza, vege supreme, and almost everything in their menu :)

Freakin delicious pizza! Located in the Re: START mall, this is a perfect stop for lunch or just a snack.
The Sgt. Peppers had a nice spicy marinara and meaty slices of pepperoni. I even came back the next day to try the butter chicken pizza which came juicy chicken and a mild curry sauce. $ 10 for the small pizza is plenty to share. Highly recommend!

Really good pizza with inventive ingredients in the heart of the container mall downtown Christchurch. As with virtually everything else down there, it is operated out of a shipping container, but there is a large beer hall style table in front that you can sit at while you enjoy your pizza. The prices are good and the pizza is interesting and tasty.
