Another example of a trading room that allows you to sample their entire production. Neil, the cellar door manager on duty when I arrived, was most positive and communicative.. on both the wines he was pouring and restaurants for me to consider in Wellington. After he sensed that I wasn’t in awe of one of the basics, he went back to the storeroom and poured me a taste of a special bottle that had been opened the night before. Now that’s great customer service! Great wines too!

Martinborough vineyard bosts the best Pinot noir in the world. Highlights for me included the burnt spur line which include an interesting but still drinkable fruity sav blanc. The Pinot noir was good. Unfortunately I didn’t have the cash to be buying the best Pinot noir in the world, but the vintages around that year were almost as good I’m sure. The staff were friendly, and tasting was $ 5 but I’m spoilt by free tastings in adelaide! And five dollars gets you attentive service and decent size tastings
