Cute little takeaway shack at Piha, selling the usual range of burgers, hot dogs, chips and fish, as well as cold drinks, coffee and ice cream. Some of their items are a bit pricy($ 10 for a piece of fish?) but most of it is reasonable, and their chips are amazing — crunchy on the outside, roughly cut and soft inside. There isn’t really anywhere to sit and eat, especially on a windy day that’s not so sunny, but we just took our food back to the car and enjoyed it there.

I love Blair’s On The Beach, it is such a cozy local establishment that just always brings about the best food after a hot day on the beach. At the shack like bunker /building set up at the back of the car park on South Piha, you can get yourself milkshakes, burgers, chips, that sort of thing. They are quick with service, super friendly and chatty, and eager to help you out. The food is really good, perhaps becouse you’ve just spend the day dehydrating on the beach so much so that by the time you reach the shack you are already salivating, but still it is really good food. I have never, in the years of coming here, had a bad food or drink experience, or a bad staff experience. It has always been a pleasure.

After spending the day on Piha beach, I went to Blair’s for a quick bite before driving back to the city. The food was simple, as you’d expect from the beach-shack like establishment and the milkshakes were amazing. I was really impressed by the attentiveness of the staff too, when we asked to have the milkshakes immediately and come back to pick up the food fifteen minutes later, it was no trouble to them and was there waiting for us, still hot, when we got back. The only downside to the place is that there are not enough places to sit. Literally just one or two tables, which were placed right in the beach car park and did not look especially appealing; but as long as you’re OK with getting the food to takeaway, then it’s great.
