This little place is definitely on the must do list if you’re in Piha… Although… Not sure how many options there are. No, really, it’s delicious. The Roasted Carrot and Cumin Soup is fantastic and I will be stealing the recipe(or attempting my own spin). It’s so simple and yet so perfect for a stormy winter day, as is the café itself… Very cozy. Great atmosphere and lots of natural light. Oh, and did I mention the Ginger Crunch was AMAZING!!! But don’t buy just one. You will regret it, if you don’t take some home.

Amazing place with a lot of great choices of drinks! Definitely a good stop in Piha :)

This is my new favorite café. Not only was the Greek salad great, but the owners and staff were ridiculously friendly. They also went above and beyond to help my family and I get back to Auckland since we didn’t have a ride. 10⁄10 would recommends for the food, service, coffee and great view. We will certainly be returning next time we are in Piha!

we came here after relaxing at the beach all day. The outdoor seating gets a peak at the beach ahead and the indoor seating and rustic and warm. They were clearing out their cabinets already so i have to quickly select what we wanted… i was confused as to whether we point and tell them what we wanted at the cabinet or go straight to the cashier… so we just stood around while they looked at us but didn’t ask us if we needed any help… That’s ok… eventually we got out egg noodle salad and berry crumble. The egg noodle salad was delicious!!! i dunno whether that is because they added the instand noodle seasoning into it or because they just got the flavours right? either way we enjoyed it, albeit a bit oily for a salad. The berry crumble was my sort of dessert as it tasted very healthy, which i’m into but other didn’t really like it. And also came with a side of yoghurt which was winning for me. 3 stars for lacking in service or attention to waiting customers… but i would definitely come again if im in the area !

I love Piha so much, and i love the fact this little café is there serving great coffee and a lovely selection of food. After a leisurely stroll along the beach we stopped by the café for a late lunch. Couldn’t get past the freshly baked pizzas so we chose to share the chicken, peperoni, blue cheese and capers pizza! SOGOOD, word of advise though– let it cool down for a minute as those bad boys are HOT!!! The coffee here is brilliant, I’m struggling to remember which roaster they use but the coffee is perfect! There is a large selection of indoor and outdoor seating, we chose to sit outside which was lovely but the sun had gone behind the hill so it wasn’t all that warm. I can imagine its a lovely spot in the summer. I hear the Piha café does dinner too, interested to see what this is like. For a winters day Piha café gave us all we wanted, I’m guessing in the summer its a lot busier, great spot!

If I could give this café NOSTARS I absolutely would. But I can’t so there you go Piha Café, you get 1 from me. I have given them three chances already so this review is not an exaggeration from one bad day. The problem with them is the service. The location is great. The food is decent, it’s the service that is mediocre. They are ignorant racists who are just horrible. RACIST! If you are Pakeha, you’re in the clear but if you’re Asian, dont even bother. Every time I order anything, food takes 45 – 55 minutes to arrive. After 2 times asking them to check my order and sometimes seeing my food on the counter just sitting there getting cold. They served me cold pizza that i saw a fly taking a pit stop on. I was so angry. I came with three friends, after 20 minutes of waiting for the simplest foods, we started making bets on what other customers would get served before us and you name it. All the White people got served and we were the only table in the restaurant staring at empty tables and hungry tummies. Pathetic Piha Café.

Piha Café was great! We wandered over there after our drive from New Zealand and the location in itself is worth the stop. It is close to the water but protected by the mountains and we had fabulous morning sun. Our breakfasts were delicious and so was our coffee, the beer was great for my husband as we are on vacation :) Definitely recommend trying the big breakfast. I had the mushroom and tomato omelette which was tasty, but definitely different from what I am used to in the US. I got a side barley salad which was a great addition.

Pizza is not very good. Service was poor and ridiculously slow. Waited like 15 – 20 minutes for them to scoop a single scoop of ice cream. Sure it was busy, but they were also moving very slowly

It took me a long time to come to The Piha Café, and I am not sure why. I think I didn’t know it was here, and then one day it just was. We came for coffee and that turned into a beer. The coffee was delicious. Good sized cups, came out in a good amount of time, it was nice and hot and tasty. The staff here are über friendly and walk around like they’ve been serving coffee their whole lives. The food here is pretty good too. They do pizzas and hot food, great after a long day at the beach. The café has nice layout and sweet atmosphere. Family friendly, outside they have toys and stuff for the kiddies. There’s plenty of tables inside and a good seating area outside, but it does ge quite busy.

If you’re like me and need coffee wherever you go, I was so excited to hear that there is now a café by Piha Beach. When I went there I was even more excited because it’s awesome. They’ve really kept the whole beach vibe going but have done it without it looking cliché or too casual. It’s a relaxed place but will still be sweet for even the most stuck up Aucklanders. They do an epic pizza and even have gluten free bases. These are perfect after you’ve worked up a huge appetite after a day out on the water. We like to have a beer, sit out in their outdoor area and watch the sunset. Such bliss. This is a must if you’re out Piha ways, or even if you’re not just go for a drive out there. It’s an awesome café and is a really nice change from most of the cafes in Auckland city.

I still can’t believe the furore this place caused when it was announced it was opening. Considering how well it fits in with Piha, and the greatness of being able to get a good cup of coffee right by the beach, the organisers of the petition against it must come here nowadays with their metaphorical tail between their legs. Unfortunately, the place was let down a bit by the near morbid atmosphere on the weekday we visited. The music was inaudible, the staff unsmiling and half the menu was unavailable to try — apparently they only sell pizzas on the weekend, which kind of sucks considering they make up the lions share of the food on offer. I guess it’s partly a result of having a monopoly on the cafeteria market in Piha, but I left with the feeling everyone working there was phoning it in.

Great, it’s the weekend and we’ve booked in with dog walking buddies to meet at Piha. Nothing beats an early morning walk on the beach followed by brunch at what is now an institution, the Piha Café. Laid back atmosphere, funky interiors and plenty of comfy seating indoors or out on the deck. I’m loving the muesli for brunch, their home made pizzas are delicious, salad is great, actually whatever is on the menu is all right by us. Disappointed last Waitangi Day when we visited and they were closed for the day, I guess even Piha Café deserves a day off.
