The general store in Puhoi is as much of a service to the locals, as it is a tourist attraction in its own right. As you enter the store you immediately get the impression that not much have changed over the last hundred years. Almost everything in the store is displayed like they used to in general stores of old, but the products are fresh.
Whenever I stay in Puhoi for the weekend I come down to the store to get fresh bread and local coffee. The store also stocks a good variety of products from local manufacturers, with my personal favourite being the mustard selection from Mustardmakers. Damn, that apricot mustard is good.
