Good food and good service. My husband and I came here and ordered the ribs. It comes with fries(chips) 9 pieces or 12 pieces. There pretty big and tasty. I would come back.

Lone Star in Wellington is the peak of great service and a cozy place to have a drink. It’s definitely been my best international tavern scene.

This is the second location of Lone Star I’ve been to on my two visits to New Zealand. Both visits had very good results although the food was very slow to come out tonight. I’ll chalk that up to a busy Friday night crowd. We had the prawn cutlet appetizer but substituted the rice for a small salad. The prawns were delicious and prepared well. The main entrée was the lamb shank with mashed potatoes and cold slaw. The shank was tasty but a little tougher on the outside than desirable. The potatoes and slaw were good too. The gravy was excellent. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere and a great ambiance. I will return.

Looking for something close to our hotel, came across Lone Star. Staff is friendly and you are surrounded by pictures of the likes of Johnny Cash, June Carter and Elvis as old country western tunes play. We purchased the green lip muscles and squid for appetizers. Muscles were in a wonderful tasty sauce and were huge and fresh. Squid was ok, not bad but i have had better. Main course we split a fish and chips plate. Not your normal heavy batter. Mathis was 4 pieces of fish in a light sprinkle of breading. Tasty tartar sauce, a large serving of vinegar cold slaw with mint and corn. And the chips were hot and crispy. Topped it off with a huge slice of cheesecake to share. Not as dense as a cheesecake from the USA, this was creamy and light. Hubby was able to get some local craft brews as well. All in all a pretty good meal.
